✿ Zhang Yibai – adoptive grandfather. A tall, bearded and grey-haired human with a posture of a bear. An older man in his sixties, a pro genetic engineer, and an ex-scientist, who currently works as a biology lecturer at the East City University. He's the one who genetically recombined Ayu after her accident in an illegal experiment, saving her life and merging her human cells with alien genes. Cranky, quiet, and secretive. Zhang mostly watches over Ayu as a scientist monitoring his project rather than a grandfather caring for his granddaughter's wellbeing. What he truly feels isn't known, because he doesn't show his feelings in any way, pushing away any closer relations. Usually very busy with his work and research, absent for weeks, leaving Ayu to take care of the house and chores. Right now he's missing and Ayu does not know anything about his whereabouts.

✿ Jane Williams – adoptive aunt. Tall, lanky, dark-skinned, and sharp-looking lady. Energetic and sassy woman in her forties, traveling doctor, ex-scientist, and ex-coworker of Zhang. Back in the day, both of them were doing a kind of illegal research that disbanded after Ayu's treatment. She helped Zhang then and encouraged him to take care of the girl. She's affectionate and friendly, thinking dear of Ayu and usually teasing her grandfather about him being a poor role model. Because of her constant traveling and work, she refused to take her in, but once in a while visits East City and always drops by the Yibai's small home. She stopped contacting Ayu after Zhang has disappeared.

Accomodation – Earth, outskirts of East City but mostly she can be found in the Lookout.

✿ Yibai family is pretty frugal. Despite Zhang working at university all the time, their bank account speaks the truth - the Yibai's financial status is less than modest. The cause is simple, but unknown to Ayu. After her creation Zhang had to get rid of all the equipment in his laboratory, selling it to the black market, yet... He was discovered by an unidentified organization that wanted badly to recruit him. His constant refusal lead to blackmailing and increasing debt to the Bad Guys, which makes the household situation pretty difficult... Though since Zhang has disappeared and Ayu started to live with Liari and Terra things have gotten much better. Currently, their home is more or less abandoned, all three of them away for various reasons.

✿ She's scared of darkness. Back when Ayu was still being experimented on and suspended in the liquid inside of the genetic tube, she woke up for a short moment. It happened before her modified genes expressed themselves enough for her to be able to breathe underwater - leading to her suffocating in the darkness before the machine stabilized her state again, putting her to sleep. She doesn't remember that incident at all, the only thing that lasted is her fear of darkness, which reminds her of this overwhelming feeling of suffocating.

✿ Ayu doesn't eat meat. It's not that she's a full vegetarian, her remade body seems to be unable to digest any kind of meat-related dishes. Surprisingly dairy and egg products are perfectly fine with her, but her meals are made mostly with vegetables, grains, and fruits.

✿ Zhang Yibai - Ayu has a complicated relation with her adoptive grandfather. She's grateful that he took her in. She's even more thankful that he gave her a home, and place to belong, but his indifferent attitude towards her hurts. Zhang's never home. When she seeks his company, he seems to avoid her and it often makes her feel unimportant and forgotten. She admires his dedication to his work but would love to have him around more, just... She's not so sure anymore if that would be a good idea. When they try to talk, it always ends up with an awkward silence. Even enjoying silence together isn't too comfortable. At this point, Ayu already accepted that Zhang took her in out of his goodwill, but perhaps he never intended to see her as a real family member.

✿ Jane Williams - Her aunt is a little wild, but confident lady that Ayu admires. And she likes her, because Jane is the only person that shows her affection with all the hugs and care a lonely child needs - but it happens rarely. Too rarely. Aunt Williams moves from place to place and travels a lot, so Ayu sees her once every two years for a couple of days before she has to disappear again. In a way, despite missing her, she's aware that getting used to her presence won't do her any good. Too bad. Ayu really could use a friendly soul nearby, but like in Zhang's case, she's not even sure that Jane sees her as someone close. Maybe it's better not to hope for the impossible.

✿ Mr. Popo - When it comes to the friendly djinn living in the Lookout, Ayu likes him very much. At first, she was a little anxious when she met him. It was quite the event... Listening to the explanation that Guardian needs help, her help, made Ayu feel pressured but he never tried to force her to do anything. And since she moved to the South for her training, he was nothing but helpful. A perfect attendant, friend, and companion that always has the advice to share. Yet sometimes when Popo refers to those that could pose a threat to Dende or Ayu, his disciple, he feels a little... Cold.

✿ Dende - For the Guardian of Earth Ayu has nothing but respect and gratitude. The old, wise, and understanding Namekian has never raised his tone, teaching Ayu everything he knows. Perhaps she feels closer to him because of the genes they share..? He saved her from herself when she couldn't handle her overwhelmed energy and aided her on every step of her recovery. With time Ayu learned that the burden of being a Guardian made its mark on him. She cares deeply for her soft-spoken mentor, treating him like a grandfather figure... A grandfather that cares about her well-being and feels genuine in his kindness.

✿ Terra - Liari's daughter and Ayu's niece. The cutest, brightest little Majin that Ayu simply adores. Her innocence and child glee is making everything brighter. She doesn't seem to be interested in fighting unlike her mother, loving mostly playing, drawing, and helping out Ayu around the house. Ever since Ayu collapsed after her energy went out of control she hasn't seen her. Terra decided to get strong on her own, wrote a message, and left in search of adventures. Ayu misses her dearly but isn't sure she has the right to call her back home.

✿ Jorey - Although their first meeting started with blood and lots of tears on her side, Ayu learned that this young man is a kind individual. Maybe a little chaotic with his thoughts, as she could pick up his energy swirling around, but to this day she's grateful that he helped her in need. Seems that both of them got some trouble with communication... But he aided her when she was about to be attacked by strangers. Ayu thinks fondly of meeting him again and becoming friends. Unfortunately, with everything that has been happening lately, she hasn't had many chances to see him. Ever since she learned from Quash that Jorey was one of the Saiyans that Athren took advantage of, making them attack Orange City in their ape forms, she has been worrying if he's doing alright. Would it be okay to check on him?

✿ Callion - A tall and intimidating-looking Saiyan that Ayu met in the bamboo forest. Despite the first fright, he turned out to be a friendly, curious soul, offering struggling Ayu help with her training. She likes his calm and composed presence, and is more than grateful for his offer - but she needs to think it through. Quite straightforward but a very nice individual, though his sense of humor is... Peculiar. Perhaps he could be her friend..? Would be nice. Well, she used to think like that. Ever since she felt Callion losing his life in the fight in West City, Ayu has been mourning her friend-to-be, praying that his soul will find rest. Yet a miracle happened and Callion visited her, safe and sound, alive and kicking. How he got back from the afterlife, Ayu doesn't know... What's more, he was able to comfort her in a difficult moment, proving to be exactly the friendly soul she needed to lift her spirit.

✿ Tabu - First Namekian that Ayu has met in her life. Tall, gruff, but helpful anyway, she took a liking to his presence. They met by accident in the forest when both of them were attacked by an enormous snake... After the fight, during their second brief meeting, Tabu told her how to operate Namekian's spaceship, so Ayu could start her training.

✿ Liari - Ayu loves Liari dearly and genuinely with all her heart. She treats the Majin like her younger sister and cares deeply about her... They met when Liari was like a little child, naive and small. Then many, many things happened, and her Bluebell returned to her all changed, suffering in a fight and being exploited by Zero which her heart couldn't take. To this day Ayu partially blames herself for what has happened. Liari's now a menacing power to be reckoned with, but for her, she's still her little sister, someone who was hurt when she wasn't there. But... There's something in her energy that makes her worry. The painful visions and night tremors. Ayu suspects that there's something dark in Liari's nature. She doesn't want to tell her how should her little sister live her life, that's not her choice to make. Whatever will happen, she will love her little Bluebell... And Ayu would act if she would have to. But as time passed, Liari's behavior is becoming more and more troubling and Ayu doesn't know what to do.

✿ Arlic - A mysterious man that got involved with her grandfather. Red suit, vibrant voice, good manners... Yet Ayu couldn't sense his energy at all and something about him just didn't feel right. She couldn't place her finger on it though, a sixth sense telling her to be on her guard - but he was a kind gentleman. Perhaps it is coincidental that Zhang vanished the very next day?

✿ Shazam - A mysterious, well-groomed and polite man that Ayu met in the forest. After sharing a cup of tea together and a casual talk, he vanished as suddenly as he appeared. Who was he? Huh. Maybe Ayu would never know, but the air around him surely was secretive.

✿ Quash - Her first encounter with this Saiyan happened when Ayu was hidden behind the tree. She got startled, you see. Knowing that he was behind the attack on Orange City, she asked about details to learn the bitter truth - that he and Jorey were tricked into running a rampage by Athren. Quash appeared to be especially burdened by what has happened, frustrated and angry that he allowed himself to be tricked - but he did not mourn the people he killed. Like he was focused on the consequences that would touch him and his goal, brushing aside everything else. Ayu listened to his worldview carefully, even if she didn't agree with most of what Saiyan's philosophy had to offer. They talked a bit, calmly and without raising voices - because even if they couldn't find a common ground, that didn't make them too wary of each other. After a while, Quash left and Ayu stayed behind the tree, pondering about the nature of things.

✿ Didgeridoo - There are no right words to describe this Namekian. What could Ayu say? Bit childish? Impulsive? Honest to a fault, that's true, but she doesn't dislike that. She helped him win a rubbery ball at the fair, which he wanted badly but couldn't finish the task in the right way. After everything he bolted away as if scared that Ayu would want the ball or money back... A peculiar individual. Hopefully, he's doing okay out there. She find him quite friendly and wouldn't mind seeing him again.

✿ Zerori - Tall, beautiful, and strong. Even if their first meeting wasn't ideal, as they met at the graves of two children they knew, Ayu found Zerori to be an extraordinary person. Perhaps it's because she was the first female warrior she saw, or maybe she felt this way after the Saiyaness was honest about her line of work. Being a mercenary wasn't easy... But they shared a fondness for the kids that met the tragic end. At least they weren't alone in their mourning.

✿ Maycair - An unusual soul. Something in her energy tells Ayu that they are similar at some level. Anxious, uneasy when approached by strangers, shy about some things... Though the blue-skinned girl seems to also possess anger in her and frustration that makes Ayu worried for her sake. She hasn't seen her since their first meeting but sometimes she wonders what path Maycair chose to follow.

✿ Kiba - A demon Ayu has met on the scorching desert... After she saved him from the unforgiving sun, providing water and shade, they talked a bit - Kiba was nice to her but seemed to be just a little wild.

✿ Calot - Ayu met this warrior when he was in pain. After a fight, he neglected his wounds and ended up collapsing in front of her... So of course she took care of him. She couldn't just leave him there... Ayu patched him up, sew the biggest wounds, and treated him kindly, hoping that he would recover quickly. At first, she was a little afraid of Calot's cold gaze but he turned out to be not so scary. He was kind enough to aid her when she went berserk, trying to save her from attackers - and later he was caught up in her energy running amok. Ayu regrets so much this lack of control and doesn't feel the right to look Calot in the eyes anymore.


Future Plans
✿ Ayu is a support-type character, with her techniques mostly focused on helping out in combat and outside of it. Yes, I'm aiming for Healer/White Mage thing here! I plan to go in this direction, letting her grow stronger and more confident while gaining knowledge and hopefully companions on the way. She'll meet a lot of people - individuals with all kinds of personalities and goals, and who knows with who she'll click?

✿ Zhang is not a bad person, but he isn't good either - and he will get even worse. Like creating some serious problems on purpose worse. How that should be handled, time will tell!
