Such was another day in the life of Taiyo, yet another little job for the swordsman. Derry mostly had him running about the place doing deliveries or basic guard duty. He wasn't the strongest fighter on the roster, but he could handle most ugly mugs who decided to show themselves, though Taiyo hardly ever had to fight. Earth didn't have many super powered beings looking to tangle with the lower spectrum of the roster, and Taiyo was quite content to be left alone after he had been nearly mangled by a saiyan.
Thankfully his job had less to deal with invasions this time and more to deal with an old woman who wanted a body guard... and by body guard he was forced to carry her shit everywhere because no one gave her the memo what his job was. Not that Taiyo complained or voiced his displeasure but he found it amusing he was suppose to be guarding this lady but his hands were full of bags of groceries and other utilities for this old woman's home.
Being dragged this way and that only to end up standing outside the local store waiting patiently to carry more shite. He wore his monk attire, but he didn't see a point given he had lost his swords. He looked the part at least in spirit sitting out front with a smoke rolled in his mouth. Occasionally someone of interest comes by to catch his attention but he quickly went back to day dreaming on the spot. Eyes half lidded as his mind was off on some adventure or another. Such was how Taiyo was content with his life, an ordinary dude helping old people pack their groceries...
Hard to believe he was fighting a saiyan general and almost died a couple months ago... But that was fun in its own weird way. He was glad it was over however and he could go back to his daily life... yet he found himself day dreaming about going out, getting stronger and fighting some of those big powers out there he saw. It was pretty stupid of an idea, one because he doubted he would ever reach their strength level. But he was certainly content to be on the sidelines NOT being fried.
As the old woman came from the store, she quickly ushered Taiyo over the nearby bus stop. The sword monk could only stand there awkwardly as others watched this man hulk about an absurd amount of bags. To the point his arms were covered from the wrist upwards to the elbow in nothing but bag handles. The bus driver of course... did not let them on. This lead the woman to grow furious before blaming Taiyo for this and began to order a taxi. Taiyo could only stand there and take the verbal beating from a woman half his size and looking as if a strong wind could blow her over.
After several minutes of awkward silence, Taiyo was relieved when the taxi arrived. As they were getting ready to move to it, someone unfortunately and very rudely cut in front of them. Taiyo was of course having none of this, he had been ear tortured enough thank you very much. With a careful maneuvering of his foot while standing on one leg, Taiyo was able to left the back of the vehicle up to prevent it from escaping.
Very awkwardly, and carefully, the man managed to hold the car in place while knocking the back open to put the groceries in. Now the whole time he is doing this, the people inside are naturally not very pleased with the car not moving and even less pleased when Taiyo forcibly opens the backdoor despite it being locked. With measured patience and tempered will, Taiyo was finally able to get the old woman into the taxi, albeit shared with someone but it was done. He could wash his hands of the situation and call in to report his success. But as the sword monk reached for his phone, it of course fell into the gutter almost perfectly. Like a card sliding into a slot designed just for it, Taiyo could only stare in dead pan silence at where his phone ONCE was.
With a resounding wet plunk that solidified its departure from this world and into the next. He would almost say a prayer for it if he wasn't so frustrated. It wasn't the money, it was the effort of all the numbers he had to deal with later. A feeling of dread washed over Taiyo as he threw his hands up into the air in proclamation of his frustrations.
"Of course!"
Was all he stated as a few passerby snickered at the display. He didn't mind, he simply brushed it off before decided he was hungry. Nothing washed a bad day away like a good meal... Now where to eat...

Gingertown. This was a place Opherla hadn't visited that often even though the Western Continent was where she called home on this large world of Earth. Opherla finally had a chance to see it in all of its own wonders and splendors as she had some baggage of her own in hand, having spent some of her petty cash, and not her main zeni balance on some items she had her eye on for quite a while. Manga, tech items, even some food stuffs she couldn't get in West City, and most of all, what really had her attention drawn to here...
PLUSHIES!!!! Opherla hadn't ever been to a place that had plushy sales as much as this place before! More plushies to her collection? Don't mind if she does! Plushies were one of the things that made this world go around in Opherla's eyes, even though one of the MAIN things to make the world go around was having defenders to protect it. But that would come later. After everything Opherla had just went through, a small shopping spree and plushy splurge was just what Opherla needed to meet her needs, as she happily walked along the streets of Gingertown with all of these items slung around her wrists like multiple purses of merchandise.
However, she suddenly stopped when commotion arose as crowds seemed to be drawn to a particular elderly woman and a man who was standing with her. Or... Opherla THOUGHT that was a man, at least, she could see a man's figure, underneath all those bags. Was he being forced to hold those bags for that woman? And... was that woman yelling at him? Poor guy, he couldn't catch a break, could he? Opherla noticed his monk clothing and wondered if he was a monk similar to what Callion was, what with his posture and his clothing. She continued watching as Taiyo waited with the woman now for a taxi instead of a bus, though Opherla wasn't sure why the bus driver didn't let them on. She would save that for later, watching as someone RUDELY tried to sneak past the both of them to get in that cab! The inconsideration of some people! Opherla knew she had to defend Earth, but sometimes... sometimes she wondered if that was truly the right choice. Regardless, she watched as Taiyo forcefully stopped the cab, loaded up the old woman's groceries, and helped her to the cab. At least he still had some decency among him, even with all the rudeness around him. He truly was a monk after all. Opherla knew she would have lost her temper by now for sure... yeah, temper, Opherla definitely needed to work on that after the Salada incident... oh, get that out of your mind already, Opherla!
Anyways, back to the events playing out with the monk, Opherla thought she would be able to get back to her business as usual as she was ready to pass by him, but only watched as he tried to make a call, and his phone.... dipped... right into the... sewer. Oh yikes. Yeah, this guy was just having a bad day overall, as Opherla's ears drooped for the monk's sake. Was this guy cursed? Or was this guy just in one of those day cycles where just nothing was going right for him? Opherla heard him yell out "Of course!" after his phone took a dip down under, and the people around him laughed! Oooh, that was the last straw! Opherla wanted to blow a fuse and tell them all off! But doing so would only backset her in her journey to be a beacon of hope instead of a harbinger of destruction. She was not going to be the latter. So she was going to be the former in this situation, as she looked both ways and crossed the street, determined to make Taiyo's day better.
"Rough day, sir?" Opherla asked kindly as she reached into her bag and pulled out a brand new phone. "I know the feeling. Had one recently myself. You believe the whole world is laughing at you and you can't do a thing about it." Opherla told Taiyo as she handed him the new phone, neatly wrapped in the packaging still. "I think, on days like those, it's important to know there are people who care, and I certainly care about you enough to at least brighten your day some. My name is Opherla, what's yours?" The Lycan Saiyan asked in a friendly tone as she looked at Taiyo with her soft, golden eyes, the eyes that seemed to show compassion and friendship even though Opherla had only just met this man. If Taiyo could sense energy, he would sense that Opherla's ki was a bit higher than his own. Nothing too powerful, but she still had an edge over him, and yet, instead of taking advantage, the kid was genuinely concerned and offering to help on what was clearly a bad day for the sword monk.

Taiyo casually took a long drag from his smoke but was interrupted by the girl approaching. He simply turned to her with a friendly smile making sure to blow the smoke the other way and he nodded his head in respect. He didn't know who she was, but she seemed friendly enough. She then handed him a neatly wrapped phone, to which the older gentlemen's eyes widened in pure surprise but quickly softened to kindness and the gratitude in his eyes showed.
"I couldn't possibly young miss. You younger folk use this more than me. I just use it for business, I'll get me another one. Your offer was more than enough to brighten my day."
Taiyo could not sense energy, nor could he fly. He never learned how to, so as far as he was concerned she was just another person on the street. A kind young teenager is what he saw, a young lady trying to cheer someone else up with a kind gift. While he was grateful he didn't wish to take from the younger generations, he was able to buy another in time with his earnings from Derry.
"Names Taiyo, Taiyo Kodomo. Nice to meetcha! As for the laughing, I ain't fussed. It was kind of funny. I'll learn to hang onto it better let me tell ya."
Taiyo gave off no threatening vibes, no strong man powers. He wasn't one of those big named slaughter houses or some roided up fighter. Taiyo was just a man who traveled the world and just so happened to come across flame and ice spirits. In truth, Taiyo was as ordinary as the man who walked past them moments ago. He didn't mind though, he was happy to be just a no body on this world.
"Your words do you justice young miss. Be proud of your manners and kindness."
Taiyo stated as he could tell she just wanted to help, and he was glad. To see kindness in the world reminded him that the saiyan attack and the children assassin things he saw were not common occurrences but rare events. After his scarring at the hands of yangcong, his witness of child soldiers and the death of a young man... Taiyo had begun to wonder if this world had gone truly mad, but it was moments of kindness that brought the monk back to the light. He was proud of this young lady for being so kind, though he didn't say it for obvious reasons.
"As of late I have had many troubling events happen, bad luck perhaps but I think its my spirits calling out to me."
Taiyo stated as he leaved his long sleeved arms away from his side to reveal the twin sheaths of his swords, both still within their confines but what one could see if they observed enough was that the hilts, handles and guards were all heavily damaged. Whatever had hit Taiyo had hit him really really hard. His scarred chest that went from shoulder to shoulder in a gross mass of burned flesh, it was clear Taiyo was no stranger to combat, but he wasn't here to fight. He didn't put himself forwards as a fighter.
"They are broken for now, I think they are upset with me. But finding a swordsmith capable of fusing spirit to metal is... rare."
Taiyo stated with a laugh, patting his swords only for them to weakly vibrate in their sheaths. He felt bad immediately having forgotten the damages only to gently pet the blades sheaths to sooth twin ladies within. He didn't wish to hurt them anymore, so he refused to draw them ever again till they were fixed.

Opherla hummed as she put the phone back in her bag after Taiyo refused her offer. Still, Opherla was glad she could put a smile on the monk's face after the kind of day he was having, as she soon heard his introduction. Taiyo Kodomo. What a nice name. And it rolled off the tongue fairly easily. Opherla was already liking this guy just on how chill of a guy he was. Even after everything that just happened, he was still nice and chill about it, albeit he was smoking but Opherla could easily overlook that. Everyone needed some way to relieve their stress, maybe this guy's was smoking. Taking a look at his demeanor and clothing, yeah, he and Callion both qualified for the monk moniker alright. Chill attitudes, monk clothes, they fit the bill to a T. Opherla wondered if Taiyo had met Callion yet, or vice versa. She'd certainly like to see the two monks meet one another. She could only wonder what kind of conversations the two of them might have in a scenario like that.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kodomo." Opherla said with a smile as she heard him make the comment that the world laughing at him didn't bother him much, as Opherla truly wanted to have a mindset like that. But it was clear she still had a long way to go before that was a reality, just like her journey to become stronger was a long journey ahead of her as well. She had to remain focused on that path, because the Earth needed her, and others, to be the vanguard it needed from otherworld attackers, or even in the world attackers. Taiyo looked like a guy who had been in a couple of fights himself. Maybe he was one of Earth's defenders that Opherla didn't know about? The way he portrayed himself to her didn't give off that sort of character, and his current power level didn't suggest he was doing much training to change that fact. Opherla would treat him as he was portraying himself and nothing else, just another civilian who wanted a more quiet life.
Taiyo would compliment Opherla on her kindness and manners, as Opherla held her smile as he complimented her. She was glad she could leave such an impression on the guy, especially when he followed up by telling her about his troubling events he was having, as Opherla felt sorry for the monk. Someone like him didn't deserve to have so many things go wrong like this, and yet, here he was, having things go wrong again and again on him. Opherla wished she could change that for him, and if she could, she would. But things like the happenings of life were out of the young Lycan Saiyan's control, things she couldn't change and things she definitely couldn't help, even if she wanted to. Especially when he showed her the swords he had on him, and the scar across his chest... what a tragedy, especially for the spirits in those blades as Opherla watched him apologize to them as if they were friends to him. Opherla wished she knew someone who could repair those swords and keep the spirits within them, but that wasn't something she could do.
"Well, maybe I can't help you there... but I can help you make your day better. You wanna come with me to get some food? I'm pretty hungry right now, and no worries, I'll pay for the food." Opherla offered to Taiyo in a further attempt to at least brighten his day some.

Taiyo simply smiled as he heard her speak of food, which only appealed to the traveling monk. He chuckled in good nature, at her words of paying. Sure he looked like a bum but he wasn't poor, yet he would feel bad spurning he attempts completely to make him feel better. The man tipped his head in respect to her offer. Though he was not sure why she had taken such an interest in him to offer him dinner, he was grateful for the company.
"Well that is mighty kind of you. I ain't fussed where."
Taiyo was pleasantly surprised by today's youths, even though he was only thirty something he still happy about seeing younger generations embrace kindness. Taiyo lowered his arms to about waist level where he folded them once more to hide his blades from view. He didn't expect anyone to be able to actually reforge his swords... he didn't believe that was possible. Yet he was confident he could help his suffering friends eventually. For now though he was not able to and worrying about it served no purpose.
He felt a little honored he was referred to by Mr. Not something he got very often but it was nice nonetheless.
"But Taiyo is fine. Now did you have a preference on food type?"
It wasn't something he would debate over much, after all he was incredibly hungry now.

"No, not particularly. I just eat what I feel like." Opherla remarked, as she couldn't help but hold a smile at how warm hearted the monk was, even despite all the troubles he's been through. Opherla couldn't help but feel bad and yet also feel humbled that this man had such control over his emotions that nothing seemed to bother him. It made Opherla appreciate this man a lot more in retrospect, as she looked at herself and the things she had done recently. Some defender of Earth she was, if she couldn't reign in her own emotions like this monk could. Perhaps she should learn a few lessons from him about how to do that then, as the two of them began to walk towards one of the restaurants.
"Well then, Taiyo... can I ask you a question?" Opherla asked. "I'm quite impressed by how calm and warm hearted you still act even when things aren't going your way. I've had issues on keeping my own emotions in check, so I was wondering... how do you do it? How do you manage to keep your emotions in check even when everything seems to be against you? How do you keep such a mentality?" Opherla asked. If she was going to be a beacon of hope, she needed to reign in her negative emotions like Taiyo did. But in order to do that, she needed to know how to do it. Something she hoped Taiyo could give to her, maybe not give, as in instill it into her, but give her some tips on how she can better manage herself as a person.
