"Haaah...haaaah....haaah." ABAS panted, falling to his knees out of sheer exhaustion. The landscape surrounding him looked like it had been ground zero for multiple nuclear detonations. Once tall rocky outcroppings had been sliced to pieces or vaporized. Craters absolutely littered the ground, to a degree where it was actually harder to find flat ground than it was to find another crater.
ABAS himself wasn't much better, with cuts, scrapes and burns crisscrossing his entire body. Slowly, the bio-android's natural regeneration began to kick in, but it was noticeably slower than it usually was. ABAS grimaced at the lack of speed, but there wasn't really anything he could do about it. Despite his exponential boost in power since their first encounter, despite all he had gained from the attack on the rogue RRA's arctic fortress, Liari had practically laughed off his second assassination attempt. In fact, he had drained so much energy in this fight that it was taking all he had to merely remain conscious.
"I see now that it was pointless to attempt attacking you again so soon. While I have grown immensely since our first meeting, my energy output is simply eclipsed by your own. The ki in that last attack exceeds the amount I am able to generate in approximately three and a half days."
ABAS struggled to his feet, attempting to survey the area around him. He had lost track of the chaotic Majin in the last few moments of their "fight", but it didn't really matter. She seemed to interested in him to kill him with a sneak attack, and he was sure she had some way of hearing him regardless. Liari was strange like that. He hesitated for a few seconds, turning over his next question in his mind. Asking about the end of their first encounter felt like volunteering to diffuse a bomb, but this was important. It felt like watershed for him, some essential first step. He had resolved to not limit his acquisition of data any longer after all, and that meant obtaining it regardless of whether the acquisition clashed with standard Blacksite protocol.
"If you do not mind the question...what happened after my....takeover at the end of our first fight? When I woke up, my...handlers had already retrieved me and brought me back for healing. I have no memory of what happened after you slapped aside my final attack."

Liari dusted off her palms casually before resting them on her hips, the Majin looking around at their surroundings. She let out a long, drawn out whistle at the devastation before turning her gaze back upon ABAS and smirking.
"That last one packed a punch!" Liari complimented, wagging her finger at the Bioandroid. "...Buuuut it lacks a kind of..." She snapped her fingers repeatedly, drawing out the last word as she mused and mused and mused. She then pointed at ABAS. "...Panache. It's still pretty basic, you know? Get creative with your techniques, Buggy! SHOW me that you care! ANYONE can throw big blasts around! It's what you do with them that matter!" ABAS then lamented his mistake in engaging the Majin so soon, recognizing her VAST superiority over him and how he had expended WAY more energy than he can probably afford. In lamespeak, he was drained and probably depressed... She wasn't sure if bugs COULD feel depression... and it was generally hard to read his expression with the... you know.... beak-mouth... but what he was saying spoke to her. She knew what it felt like to be COMPLETELY disappointed in her own abilities, to have trained day and night, ALL THE TIME... and still not measure up. If ABAS had even remotely the same emotional capability that Liari and other sentient life-forms did, it was likely his critical failure in his life mission hit harder than any punch Liari hit him with... so far. She sighed and shook her head, approaching the creature. She would reach out with a hand and gently rest it on his shoulder, giving it a gentle shake.
"Don't worry, Buggy. You'll kill me one day... Fair and square." She encouraged! "I know you will! You were made to do it! You CAN do it!" ...But it didn't seem like ABAS wanted to dwell on his failure for much longer. Instead, he changed the subject, asking what happened after his FIRST attempted. He remembered blacking out and then waking up in a lab, being treated for his injuries. Liari narrowed her eyes, a sudden flare of rage flashing through her... She swallowed it. SHE NEARLY CHOKED... but she swallowed it.
"...You blanked out on me. I don't know why, not for sure, but I THINK it had something to do with those scientists you were talking about. They did something... and I got angry... I guess I got carried away because when I came to my senses, you were gone..." Liari spoke in a hushed tone, her voice soft and sharp through gritted teeth. She looked like she was ONE minor insult away from strangling the nearest labcoat, her eyes flickering between a bloody red and shining silver like channels on TV!
"...BUT LET'S NOT THINK ON THAT ANYMORE!" Liari asserted, bouncing back to her cheery, excitable tone! "I planned a big day for us, Buggy! We're gonna go meet somebody today!" ...And without another word, she scooped up the bioandroid in her arms as if he were a piece of luggage before walking away with him! The air opened up around them almost like a doorway, the pair appearing to dissipate into flashing cubes before they stepped out... RIGHT in front of Pran!
"HIYA!" Liari greeted, saluting the soldier as if he were an old friend! "My bug-boy here thinks humans are weak! Show him you're not, wouldja?"

Pran was a little far from his village in the Eastern Continent. He could've stayed at home and used the Gravity Chamber there, but sometimes he needed to get away from it all. He had gotten much stronger recently, and he had essentially perfected his father's 10,000 Megaton Punch. Now he was focused on mastering the "Kick" variant, which he initially thought would be simple. After all, he's just doing the same thing, but to his leg instead of his fist right? How hard could it be?
Very hard, apparently. It turns out it was a lot easier to learn a technique when his life and the well-being of others were on the line. Now that he had calmed down and was in a relaxed state, he couldn't force his Ki to produce the same result. On top of that, different parts of the body require different levels of mastery. A kick was more complicated than a punch, and trying to focus on maintaining form, speed, and power as well as the flow of his Genki to that area without losing control was one hell of a challenge.
Pran was currently in a clearing in a forest, practicing his kick. So far, he could only focus minimal amounts of energy toward his shin and perform a slightly enhanced roundhouse kick. This had disappointing results, as he couldn't even see the wind react to his attack because it was so weak. Still, practice makes perfect. He just had to learn how to multitask a little better...
But that might have to wait though. A very, VERY familiar-looking set of cubes began to fade into view right in front of him. He immediately stopped what he was doing, taking a couple of steps back as his eyes widened. He almost couldn't believe it. There was no way, it was impossible. Surely there were more people in the universe with the same technique. What are the odds it was-
"JUMPING JELLYFISH!"
Pran stumbled back and tripped over himself, falling right on his rear end! LIARI APPEARED OUT OF FREAKING NOWHERE! WHAT ARE THE ODDS THAT TODAY WAS THE DAY THAT THEY WOULD MEET AGAIN? It felt like only yesterday that he had BARELY survived his encounter with her and the Queen of Saiyans! And he just managed to heal from his wounds too! Was she nearby the whole time and happened to pick up on his energy?
A bunch of worries flooded his mind. Was this what he could expect from now on? What if he had decided to stay in the village today? She might have just SPAWNED in and put everyone at risk! What was he going to do from now on? Could he even still go home after this?
Calm down Pran, before we freak out, we have to figure out why she's even here in the first place.
Slowing his breathing, he realized that Liari had not come alone. She had brought someone- or something with her. He had never seen anything like it before. It looked like a human-sized cricket which, to be honest, was a little nasty. She had called it her "bug boy". Was that her minion? Does she have MINIONS now?
Pran slowly got up and cautiously took two steps back, not wanting to be too close to Earth's #1 threat. The whole situation felt a little unreal, and his spaced-out tone of voice reflected that.
"Wh....What?"

"I'll take it under advisement. I feel it's...inefficient to tell you exactly what I have planned. Considering...you know." ABAS said dryly, gesturing to himself. In his mind at least, assassins usually didn't take advice from their targets. He had learned a lot from their first fight, but that was just ki control. Letting her push him towards a particular attacking style just seemed like an objectively stupid decision.
Still though, her conclusions aren't wrong. The Bio-Bomber is strong, but I really need to expand my offense and defense. ABAS thought. Basic ki attacks and martial arts were good for conventional fighters, but against the greatest threats to Earth, some extra tricks would certainly be handy. Of course, that meant developing actual ki control, but that was an issue for another time.
"Of course I will kill you eventually!" ABAS said, in the same tone as one would reassure a concerned friend. "Just because I failed twice doesn't mean I won't succeed in the future! My biology makes it all but certain." The frustration from his failure was present, yes. He couldn't deny that it hurt to grow so much and resolve to become the strongest, only to get slapped down like a whiny infant. But blaming himself and wallowing in self-pity was simply a waste of time. Such actions were the worst kind of illogical behavior in his opinion. Liari wasn't going to kill him for the moment, so he had all the time in the world to surpass her powers.
ABAS would listen quietly as Liari described their respective rampages. "I..I see. Thank you for that information." He said distractedly. His mind raced with theories and counter-arguments as he struggled to piece together what had happened. He still didn't remember EXACTLY what Liari had asked (and she didn't seem to keen on telling him for obvious reasons), but it must have been some kind of trigger. Said trigger must have activated some emergency override in his subconscious that made him "blank out" as Liari said. Nevertheless, what was FAR more important were the implications of that little series of events.
They can completely take me over?! I thought the psychic programming could only influence my actions. I know it can make me disregard personal safety to go after a target, dampen emotions, force me to listen to Key-Holders, and things like that. But if they can take total control....than I might be in a much worse position than I thought.
Of course, the fact that he had free will at all meant that they couldn't do it all the time. And he HAD been able to fight the conditioning when fighting Liari the first time. That meant his decisions and secrets were likely his own, at least for the moment. Still though, the idea that the Blacksite could practically erase his ego on a whim made him....displeased. He would need to talk to Nine later.
ABAS was shaken from these ruminations by Liari grabbing him and cheerfully announcing that they were going somewhere. "Wait, wher-" ABAS started, before reality went runny at the edges. He felt his body rip itself apart according to some unseen design, somehow becoming everything and nothing at the same time! For ABAS's enhanced perceptions, the experience was almost overwhelming, but thankfully it only lasted a few seconds before he coalesced into being again.
It had appeared that Liari had somehow....teleported them. As in, moved them halfway across the planet in the span of a second if he didn't miss his guess. That was something that was possible with ki manipulation?!?! He had never heard of anything even close to that kind of god-like power.
ABAS, unable to even budge Liari's grip with how drained he was, merely hung from her right arm like a sack of potatoes. He looked up, noting the appearance of a human male just a few feet in front of them. He was a martial artist judging by his clothing, but ABAS didn't really have a way of telling how strong he was. He knew Liari at least, but that didn't really mean anything. With how chaotic the Majin was, that either meant he was a regular farmer or harbored star-destroying power.
"I am the Automated Bio-Adaptive Sentinel. ABAS for short. And I am not a bug, I am classified as a bio-android." ABAS clarified tiredly. The "joke" if it was one, was already getting old. "Liari here seems to want to convince me that my statements about humans are wrong, I apologize for disturbing your training."

Liari cocked her head at Pran's reaction.
"...No...? It's me! Liari! And I brought a friend!" The Majin lightly bounced ABAS under her arm. "...Besides... I don't think Jellyfish CAN jump, can they...?" She looked at the Bioandroid she held, then at Pran... before shrugging her shoulders. "Anyway, I brought this guy here so YOU..." She pointed at Pran with her free hand. "...Can prove that humanity isn't a COMPLETE waste of space!" Liari spoke as if this were the most normal thing in the world and perhaps, to someone like the Majin who had seen Gods, Devils, and Mortals, it was. She simply smiled at Pran and awaited his answer. ABAS would take this time to introduce himself, weakly waving at the man and explaining that it was HE that held these ignorant (if not deserved) views on humanity! He even went as far as to politely apologize on Liari's behalf for interrupting his training! Liari took a look around and... yeah, that's what it looked like. Smashed trees, upturned soil abound... It looked as if Pran had been doing some serious training! ...Maybe she would drop by sometime, see if she could get in on it... It sounded like fun, in anycase!
...Pran, however, seemed to be a few steps behind in this whole conversation, blubbering out words of protest and exasperation, completely THROWN OFF by their sudden appearance. Liari narrowed her eyes at the young soldier, the slightest flicker of frustration dancing across her expression! Honestly, she expected to have won her little bet with ABAS by now, what with Pran powering up really quick or... you know... just straight-up confirming whatever she had told the Bioandroid already. Yet, here he was, blubbering in place, still stuck at square one.
"Okay, okay, okay." Liari sighed, dropping ABAS at her side like a sack of bricks. She looked down at the Bioandroid and smiled. "Watch this, alright?" She turned to Pran. With a smirk, she lifted a hand over her head and summoned a MASSIVE PINK BALL OF KI SEVERAL DOZEN TIMES HER OWN SIZE! Black electricity flickered around its face, arching along the ground around ABAS and the Majin, scraping almost all the way up to Pran's toes before flickering away!
"I'm gonna throw this at ya real quick! Catch it for me, would ya!? It'd do WONDERS for my point!" ...And with that, Liari flicked her wrist... and the ball would FALL upon Pran!
"OH YEAH!" Liari called over the rumbling of the falling sphere in the few seconds before impact! "DON'T TRY TO DODGE, OKAY!? THE EXPLOSION WILL BE REALLY BIG! IT WOULDN'T BE GOOD FOR YOU IF YOU DO!" With that said, Liari would then turn back to ABAS, crossing her arms over her chest and leaning back as casually as if she were watching from a 100 meters away.
"Trust me, Pran isn't any squishy human. He's got this... Probably." The Majin's smile turned slightly sheepish and she looked back, eager to see how Pran was doing. While she had the UTMOST TRUST that the human could handle this tiny little blast Liari had conjured, on the off-chance she screwed up and he couldn't, well... that would be unfortunate for ABAS... With how weak he was, if Liari couldn't nab him in time, he'd prooooobably be hurt... significantly in the resulting explosion/shrapnel. WELL! What was progress without breaking every egg in the carton, hm? And besides... Pran PROBABLY wouldn't drop this ball! She was SURE! Like... 51% sure...

As much as he wanted to take the time to understand what ABAS was talking about, he was saying a lot of fancy-sounding words. He could hardly even process what Liari was saying, missing half of her introduction and reaction. Unfortunately, due to only half-paying attention, he thought that ABAS had introduced himself as a bug! It made sense to Pran, as he totally looked like he belonged to a hive. Even his tail, and he sure hoped a tail is what that thing was, looked super freaking weird. He didn't want to get anywhere NEAR it. Finally managing to get himself together, he was able to form a coherent sentence. Well, not really. "M-Mr. Bugman... Right..." He replied, still way too blown away. Before his brain could even catch up enough so that he could question what ABAS was talking about regarding humanity, LIARI DECIDED IT WAS GOOD TIME TO BUTT IN. "Huh? Watch wh-" This whole thing just felt like a fever dream. "WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH AYAYAYAYAYAY!" The majin had somehow thought of the BRIGHT idea of trying to NUKE the goddamn place. Pran tried to motion for her to CALM DOWN, but it seemed to have proven futile. Even worse, he was warned that if he tried to dodge it, it probably wouldn't end well for him. Heck, maybe even the planet. There was no time to think of anything else, it was time for action. As the energy attack launched, he could already sense the MASSIVE power that emitted from it. He channeled both Genki and Yuki into his body, going MAX power. His muscles became more defined, and an aura surrounded him as he CAUGHT the sphere. The ground underneath his feet began to collapse under the weight. It looked like the training he's been doing began to pay off however, as what he was about to do wouldn't have been possible in the last confrontation they had. In a split second, he brought one of his arms back and flooded it with Genki. Unleashing his new move, he threw his arm forward and PUNCHED the sphere with all of his might using the 10,000 MEGATON PUNCH! A GUST OF WIND SURROUNDED THE AREA, EVERYTHING NOT BOLTED DOWN WAS SENT FLYING IN EVERY DIRECTION! He'd just manage to send the sphere into the sky above them, barely managed to survive Liari's attack. Once it was over, his entire sleeve was completely obliterated, and his hand and arm had burned marks and bruising along the skin. It looked like his body hadn't quite gotten used to outputting that much power. Then again, it didn't help that he had A PSYCHOPATH to deal with either. Before ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY OTHER SIMILAR IDEAS, Pran shouted at the top of his lungs: "OKAY, EVERYBODY STOP. WHAT. IS. GOING. ON. WHAT IS THIS ABOUT!"

ABAS sighed deeply at Pran's nickname for him. Honestly, why did he even try anymore? There was clearly some sort of collective delusion among the people of Earth to call him a bug. It clearly didn't matter that he looked as much like a bug as a human or Saiyan did an ape. If that is what the world decided to call him, than so be it. "That's close enough for our purposes I suppose. Mr. Human." ABAS said finally. He turned to glance at Liari then, curiosity in his gaze. This human was somewhat pleasant, sure, But the world-destroying power? The proof that ordinary humans could somehow surpass him? He just wasn't seeing it.
Before he could fully turn around however, Liari dropped him into the dirt. She said something about watching her, and ABAS felt his curiosity heighten even further. Was she about to question this human maybe? Get them to convince him of their latent potential? Liari didn't seem one for philosophy, but maybe she had one of those sudden change of moods?
"If you say so. I don't see what you could d-" ABAS started, before the words caught in his throat like something physical. In a heartbeat, Liari conjured up a titanic energy sphere, bigger than anything the bio-android had ever been able to produce. ABAS couldn't sense anything about it of course, but then again he didn't have to. The sheer pressure coming off Liari buffeted him like a hurricane force wind. He knew that if he took that kind of attack head on, there was a high chance that it would kill him outright.
And then, Liari cheerily chucked it at the human!
ABAS came alive, forcing the last vestiges of energy through his body in a desperate attempt to move. He managed to push himself onto his knees, then one foot. He even managed to stand up, albeit very unsteadily. However, that was all he could manage. Reality was clear: he simply did not have enough energy left to defy the laws of physics one last time and throw himself in front of the attack somehow. He winced as his programming wailed like a banshee in his skull. It ordered him to save humans save humans save humans save humans! He practically ignored Liari, reaching out towards Pran as he shouted in shock.
"DODGE IT HUMAN! I CAN SURVIVE THE AFTERMATH!" ABAS shouted desprately.
But then, he froze. The human caught the ki sphere.
Before ABAS' unbelieving eyes, the human strained and fought. Out of nowhere, he bulked up severely enough that it made ABAS seriously question whether the man could manipulate his biology as well. The human then raised a clenched fist and punched. The strike was enough to shatter worlds, and sent Liari's serious attack flying high into the air where it detonated in a brilliant shower of light! The human had met Liari head on, and gotten off with light injuries.
ABAS however, was a different story. The shockwaves generated by the human's strike were so strong, they picked up ABAS from where he stood next to Liari and flung him into the far distance! His speed was such that he carved a body-sized hole through the dense forest, smashing through wood and stone until he eventually hit the earth. A massive crater formed around his body, and ABAS lay at the center heavily injured.
ABAS just laid there, unmoving. His mind worked overtime, analyzing every little aspect of what he had seen. There were many possible explanations for it: maybe the human could have had latent demonic gifts granting him authority over magic. Or maybe he was some kind of hybrid! He had read numerous medical studies about the sheer power a human cross could possess with the right genetic partner. But in the end, the facts and numbers never lied. His illogical emotional responses aside, Liari wouldn't have gone through the effort of teleporting them halfway across the planet to meet some kind of edge case. The only logical explanation, freed of all possible emotional bias, was that what he had seen was the honest truth.
The realization absolutely crushed ABAS. Liari had been absolutely right. In the end, there was no reason at all for his creation if humans could achieve that level of his power. His entire life had been that of a shovel: a convivence so the human race didn't have to get their hands dirty. All of his training, all of the indignities and pain he had tolerated because it would push him towards the culmination of his existence. All of it....was for nothing.
The worst part is that he couldn't even be angry about it. It was a decision of utterly pure logic and the utmost practicality. The kind he respected above everything else. But that very same practicality and logic reached into his soul and stole away the last vestige of his reason for existing.
ABAS slowly rose to his feet, slowly limping his way back to the clearing. He didn't even have the energy left to heal himself, and his arm hung at a grotesque angle at his side. "I...I see your point Liari. Humans...do not require me. I am their assassin of convenience and....nothing more. Thank you human. For your demonstration." He said, his voice even. However, if either of them listened closely, they would notice that it was more akin to a text-to-speech program than regular conversation.

"...So... I think that went well." Liari surmised... as the world around them crumbled to DUST.
...Well, not entirely, See, ABAS had left center-stage a LONG time ago, his buggy-claws and agility doing little when being smacked with several hundred tons of compressed air as the result of Pran's... remarkable resilience. For a moment there, the Majin had been afraid that she'd put just a LITTLE too much power into her demonstration, perhaps overwhelming the human and crushing him accidentally under it's almighty weight! ...Well, she was kinda glad it didn't turn out that way. After all, if that ball had touched the ground, who KNOWS how little would be left of the planet!?
As it stood now, it was only the surrounding area that was thoroughly devastated, the aftermath of Pran's comically simplistic defense resulting in a ravaged landscape uprooted, tossed about, and all mixed up like a big-ol' salad. Heck, it kinda looked like HELL, now that the Majin looked at the environment more closely, taking stock of all the upturned dirt and rock and the few untouched plants that scattered about the place. She wondered if Janemba would like it here... Nah, he'd probably just turn the whole place into one ugly crystal. Figures. He was never the type to appreciate aesthetics... BACK TO THE POINT, THOUGH, Pran was standing firm, if thoroughly bloodied, DEMANDING WHY they were here and WHAT was going on! The Majin looked at the human as if he were the dumbest thing around. Hadn't... Hadn't they been over this already...?
"Like I said, I wanted to prove to ABAS here-" ...She looked around The Bioandroid was gone... Maybe he went to find a snack or something... "...Anyway, I wanted to prove to ABAS that despite how pathetically weak your race is in most cases, it is possible for them to reach ROUGHLY around my level of power if they... you know... trained and stuff." She waved her hand in a circular motion, both dismissing Pran's OBVIOUS distress and gesturing at the surrounding mutilated landscape. "...And I think you helped me make my point quite effectively. Thank you, Pran. You were quite helpful. Now... Where did that bug get off to...? Buggy? BUGGY!?" The Majin had turned around and started wandering through (what was left of) the woods, a hand cupped around her lips.
She had already forgotten about Pran.
"BUGGY! DID YOU SEE? I WAS RIGHT, WASN'T I! PRAN WAS-" ...ABAS' voice would Reach Liari then, a weak, croaking voice of confirmation. He had seen it, alright... and he wasn't feeling good about it... Or anything, for that matter, as when Liari stepped into view, Liari's face paled slightly and a hand shot to her mouth. There lay ABAS, body, LIMBS broken, lying in a big ol' crater in a small pool of his own blood... but it was really the utter resignation in his voice that got to the Majin. ...Why, it almost sounded like he was.... dying.
"Hey, hey, hey, Bug.... ABAS." Liari chided. She would reach behind her belt and pull out... a small bean, one she practically shoved down ABAS' gullet. "Eat this. You'll feel better." ...Regardless if he wanted too or not, ABAS would EAT that bean and his body would magically (and somehow painlessly) reorient and reconstitute itself back to full health! A SENZU! Even immortals needed these... if for no other reason than to not need to eat for a full week after! ...But although ABAS' physique seemed all prim and proper, ABAS himself seemed less-so. In fact, he looked just as defeated as he did a moment ago, muttering how he was just a tool, a mere convenience to humanity! He wasn't necessary, he wasn't essential. He was just... a tool.
"ABAS..."
...This was not how Liari had wanted this to go. She wanted this realization to be a RALLYING moment, something ABAS could use to break his chains in two! WHO WOULDN'T BE MAD TO FIND OUT THEY WERE JUST A PUPPET ON STRINGS!? WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO BREAK THEM!? ...ABAS didn't. He just sat there... and lamented his existence.
"ABAS, look at me." Liari asked. If he refused, the Majin would take his chin in her hand and turn his head so that he had no choice BUT to. "...That's not ALL you are, okay? The point of this wasn't to make you feel worthless. It's the opposite actually." She lightly poked his forehead with her finger. "...You're your own person now. You don't HAVE to protect these people. They can do it themselves, you know? You can do ANYTHING, decide for yourself... You're YOU! Isn't that a good thing...?" She would then reach out and gently wrap her arms around ABAS, pulling the Bio-Android in for a hug.
"You're a pretty fun guy to be around, ABAS, you know...? I don't like seeing you sad..." ...It was then that the Majin realized... Pran was still there. She then glanced over her shoulder, spotted the human... and suddenly Liari's hair-tentacles SHOT OUT AFTER HIM LIKE HEAT-SEEKING MISSLES, WRAPPING AROUND HIM LIKE A VORACIOUS SEA PREDATOR AND DRAGGING HIM IN!
"AWH, COME HERE, YOU! HUGS FOR EVERYONE!" Liari declared! If she managed to wrangle in the human, Liari would release him only so she could wrap an arm around him and snug him close!
"See?" Liari proclaimed, jabbing ABAS to get his attention. "Even Pran here knows I'm right!"

"Huh? What does that have to do with anything?" Pran asked, but it was already too late. Liari had gone off to find Mr. Bugman, whom the former had called ABAS. He had heard Mr. Bugman mention something about what ABAS meant earlier, but honestly, he wasn't paying attention. Still, he somehow had more questions than before. During the attack, the person he thought was Liari's minion had actually expressed his desire to save him. At that moment, he seemed like a heroic figure, like Pran himself was aspiring to be.
If that was the case, why was he hanging around someone like Liari? He didn't look like he was in good shape at the time, did Liari do something to him? If she was trying to kill him, she could've easily done so considering how strong she was. If his hypothesis was true, then how would that lead to this experiment that they were doing here? If Pran was going to get any answers, he was going to have to find out who and what Mr. Bugman was and how this whole incident relates to whatever happened between them. After all, if Liari is trying to kill him, then he couldn't stand by and do nothing knowing that someone else was in danger.
On the bright side, it looked like he didn't have to. Before he knew it, a bunch of tentacles had wrapped around his body, and HE WAS SHOT OVER to where Liari and ABAS were! As he came to a screeching halt, the Majin had been looking toward him for confirmation on... Whatever it was they were talking about before they got here. So far, it looked like she wasn't exactly in the fighting mood. If avoiding a confrontation, especially with an already injured Mr. Bugman present, could get him answers, then that's what he needed to do.
"Uh, I'm still playing catch up here...
"Okay, everybody slow down. Why are you guys so interested in our potential?" He said to Liari before focusing his attention back on ABAS, who looked pretty terrible. And he wasn't talking about his insect features either.
"Mr. Bugman, are you in danger? How hurt are you?"

ABAS didn't even react to Liari using his proper name for the first time. Nor did he resist the Majin as she practically shoved the small bean down his throat. It obviously wasn't something meant to harm him judging by her attitude. Even if she did mean to harm him, it wasn't like she needed all this subterfuge. One casual blast would wipe him from an existence like a human scraping dirt off their shoe. And that, in ABAS's opinion, was just another indication of the futility of his existence. He couldn't even succeed in his purpose as a "tool", let alone succeed in any of his own desires!
No matter how dark his thoughts turned however, the bean had already begun its magical work. In a flash, ABAS was restored to full strength, energy brimming from every pore. In fact, due to his Sayian genetics, he was actually significantly stronger than before! Despite this achievement, no emotion or sense of accomplishment shone on his face. Just a calm, resigned acceptance.
"Thank you for restoring me Liari. While your actions are a bit illogical, they are helpful nonetheless. It would have taken me a significant amount of time to recover on my own."
Even after all this time, ABAS truly did not understand why Liari was helping him so much. Sure, he understood that she wanted, CRAVED a fight. He could guess from some of her other complaints that Earth's defenders weren't that keen on going one-on-one with the superpowered Majin. That much she had made clear. But still...
"One question. Why bother showing me this? This won't help me get stronger faster or give you a better fight in the end. Is it just to watch my reactions to this information?"
A slight hint of confusion broke through ABAS' impassive mask. Schadenfreude was really all he could really think of in terms of Liari's purpose. There were simply no other conclusions to draw based on the data he had. His confusion would only deepen as Liari continued on with her little speech, trying to reassure him of his place in the world. The words were....stirring to say the least. They were almost enough to give him hope, if the situation wasn't so grim.
"I wish it could be like that. Freedom is something I have wanted my entire life, but that doesn't mean its any more in reach now than it was a few weeks ago. My superiors still have kill-switches baked into my very blood, set to terminate me with a push of a button. Even my regeneration can't keep up with so much damage to my core. Even if I tried to remove them, its very likely that whatever takeover they activated during our first fight will prevent me from doing so. And so, it is hopeless. Those are the simple facts of the matter."
ABAS had always desired freedom. Just because it looked outwardly like he was bowing and scraping at the feet of people like Nine, that didn't mean he didn't have any private, traitorous thoughts. But, he had and continued to obey them simply because there was no other choice. What was the point in petty rebellion and posturing if it was impossible for them to ever come to anything?
"Until I have a method of breaking locks simultaneously, I can never 'be my own person' as you say. I can grow strong, strong enough to overthrow everything, but I will always be a slave to their wishes. Besides, shouldn't you want that? If I theoretically break free, I won't be obligated to kill you any longer."
Suddenly, his resolutions to become strong, to not allow his eyes to be clouded any longer felt like the foolish dreams of a child. He had never really had a choice! A chance to really see what he could do as the endpoint of all evolution. He was, and always would be, a slave.
ABAS made a half-hearted attempt to resist the embrace, but in the end Liari's strength, as always, eclipsed his own. He would, however, noticeably stiffen at the physical contact. He wasn't used to someone touching him in a way that wasn't for combat or examination. And for once...he didn't actively try to kill Liari. Despite the futility of her argument, this conversation was...beneficial. There was no point in poisoning it just to launch an attack he knew wouldn't do anything.
"Ah Mr. Human. Apologies for the confusion, Liari was just attempting to show me the errors in my data. I had been previously told that I was designed to kill threats like her and protect humans like you due to Earth's inability to fend her off. Therefore, I had been operating under the assumption that I was created because none of you could do the job." ABAS explained, gesturing at Liari. "I was obviously wrong there. Thus making me nothing but a tool for your wishes. And no, she isn't hurting me. I don't really think she sees me as something threatening. Maybe something akin to a poodle or a small housecat."

"'Why show you...'" Liari repeated, incredulous at the question. She wiggled an arm at Pran, whom she was practically holding captive, just to be SURE that HE was what the Bioandroid was asking about! "...BECAUSE! Don't you SEE, ABAS!? You don't have to follow your stupid little directive of protecting people because someone TOLD you too anymore! Look at Pran! He's REALLY strong! You don't gotta do his job! You can be... like... WHOEVER you want to be! The WORLD and so much more is open to you now! I can show you some of it, if you want! I already have PLANS!" Liari giggled softly and looked upon her friend. It was an exceedingly strange pairing these two, even beyond their eldritch natures. A target... taking a liking to her assassin...? Why, that sounds like something out of a stupid romance novel-plot! More to the point, Liari was aware of how odd it was... and embraced it. She KNEW ABAS wasn't a threat to her as he was but, more importantly, she RESENTED the idea he was working for WEAKLINGS, the idea that he was a golem with just enough mind to be aware of his personhood, his limitations, and now the reality of the world. She wanted him FREE. HE HAD to be FREE.
...But ABAS was skeptical. He laid out all of the reasons why Liari's ideal version of him JUST COULDN'T BE, all the kill-switches that could be flipped at a moment's notice! Even IF his body could repair the damage from one of them, the others would fall into place cascade-style and he would be a puddle of jelly on the floor... or something along those lines.
"Then either KILL the person holding the button or destroy the button." Liari stated... as if it were as simple as just that. "...And let me help. I WANT to help! We can save you! NOBODY should have something hanging over their heads like that! Especially not you, ABAS!" Liari then looked at Pran. He was a hero-type, right? He seemed like the sort of goody-two-shoes that got off on helping random strangers! Maybe HE would be willing to offer his assistance!
"OH! And Pran will help too!" ...Liari stated, already volunteering the disoriented young man! "We'll take these guys down for you, save you from their stupid kill-switches! We won't let them EVER hurt you again!"
ABAS seemed to regard the Majin with skepticism, asking if she REALLY wanted him free. After all, if he was, he COULD choose to never fight her again, let alone kill her. Liari only shook her head, a warm and genuine smile spreading across her face.
"It wouldn't be right if you tried to kill me because someone has a blast to your head, telling you too... It's like... lying to someone or something... You don't really mean what you're doing, not 100%. If we're gonna fight... REALLY fight... I want it to be because you want to fight me as your own person, not because if you don't, you're gonna die anyway. I don't want you to die, ABAS... Dying hurts and it's... um... not very fun in the afterlife..." She looked at Pran she was sure he was there or, at least, had access to the footage of her death. It was an ugly, brutal, messy affair, one Liari would sooner chew off her own tentacles like bubblegum than repeat. ...And if Pran looked closer, he could perhaps see... pleading in her eyes.
WHAT!? This chaotic, monstrous (if babyfaced), RUBBER-GUM MONSTER was looking at HIM, PRAN, for help!? ...Yes... Liari didn't know how many others were immortal like her, able to wriggle free from the clutches of death after a prolonged struggle. She didn't KNOW if she'd ever find ABAS again in the Afterlife... or if he'd even end up where she had. There were still so many things she didn't understand yet... but based on what she did, she HAD to keep ABAS alive... She wanted to. He... Well... He was innocent. Innocent in the same way a circus bear was innocent, but innocent just the same. ABAS would then take this moment to explain to Pran, in more detail, the whole reason the human was involved in the first place, even going as far as to judge that he was seen as more of a cute pet than... well... a genetically engineered super-soldier assassin!
...He wasn't wrong... but also wasn't giving himself OR Liari enough credit. Liari... DID see him as "cute" in a "oh-look-at-the-yappy-chihuahua-bearing-its-fangs" sort of way... But it was more than that. Liari... related to him... She remembered... being locked in a ball... crushed and confined into a space so tight, so small, it was agony to even BREATH inside... she remembered losing any hope of ever escaping, that any dream of freedom she might have was just that... a dream and nothing else. ...Then she WAS free... Then she HAD her life again. She wasn't about to let someone like ABAS, like HERSELF, stay locked up in their own ball.
"Help us." Liari said to Pran, both sincerely... and forcefully. It wasn't a command. YET. The look in Liari's eyes wasn't nearly hard enough to presume that the human's help wasn't voluntary anymore... but it was strong. Liari really wanted Pran's aid in this... She wasn't sure she had the knowhow... or the restraint to do what was needed to make sure her friend didn't... die.

As Pran was wrapped in Liari's tentacle listening to the two of them talk, that's when he started getting a lot more information. Apparently, Mr. Bugman was being controlled by his "superiors", whatever that was supposed to mean. Still, he'd be lying if he said he didn't feel bad for him. From what he was saying, he couldn't be his own person, couldn't rebel, couldn't do basically anything. Designed to kill threats like Liari? Kill switches built into his blood? Was he made? Where did he come from? The way he was describing it was like being a mindless drone for whoever was controlling him. As someone who considered having the free will to live as you please a pretty important aspect of life, this whole situation was right up Pran's alley.
His head turned sharply toward Liari as she essentially just threw him into the mix without thinking about anything. For once, he'd like to be asked to do something at least! He only really felt like he knew about 85% of the story here. Despite that, Pran shockingly found himself agreeing with the majin to a certain extent. Their reasoning seemed a little different because it sounded like she just wanted someone to willingly fight her while he would've wanted Mr. Bugman (ABAS?) simply to be free, but for now, it seemed like their beliefs would align temporarily.
She doesn't want him to die because dying hurts? I wonder what the difference is between him and all of her other victims...
As Liari finally turned toward Pran to ask him for help, the latter saw a really weird side to her. Hardly the same person who attacked Earth on multiple occasions. He didn't really understand it, but after the conversation he had with his mom back home, he might have to try if he was ever going to stand a chance of defeating her. In any case, since it looked like he wasn't going to have to FIGHT her at the very least, he decided to dial it back and drop back into his base form.
"Uh..."
He paused for a moment as he thought everything over. Helping Liari of all things wasn't exactly something that was on his bingo card, but Mr. Bugman really seemed to be struggling here. Whatever feelings he had toward the monster that currently was technically holding him captive surely couldn't outweigh someone in need asking for help from the only people willing to listen to him.
"Alright. I'll help you, Mr. Bugman. I'm still a little confused about where you come from, though. Who are your- uh- "Superiors"? Are they the same people who designed you? Are you even able to say?"
After asking him, he'd look at Liari with an annoyed expression on his face.
"AND PUT ME DOWN!"

ABAS bowed his head at Liari's words. They were logical of course: his role as a defender of Earth was completely redundant with people like Pran around. However, as he now realized, ABAS's power was never the point of the Project. It was to provide a service for humanity, a role not unlike an automated janitor targeted towards extraterrestrial threats. If he knew the full scope of who he was, would Pran keep training? Or would he simply move on with his life, doing the things he wanted to do since there was no longer a reason to maintain such power?
"I will think about it Liari. Regardless, anything further you could show me of the world would be of great benefit Liari. Despite our circumstances, every time we have met has resulted in great benefit for me. Of course, I cannot cease my attempts at killing you just for that, but I happen to be drained of energy at the time, then who knows?"
ABAS said, tapping a spindly finger against his crown. It was a bit of a clunky system, but it neatly threaded the needle around his mental programming. If he tried his absolute best to kill Liari, to the point where he didn't even have the energy to move, then even the Blacksite couldn't blame him for being unable to do anything when she teleported around. After all, simply killing ABAS when he lost a fight didn't help anyone!
Nevertheless, Liari seemed laser-focused on the pursuit of his freedom. Her claims that he could simply bypass the restrictions were.....hopeful to say the least. ABAS honestly doubted acquiring his permanent freedom would be as simple as killing a few humans before they could push a button. The Blacksite had been so methodical and careful about everything they did, installing failsafe after failsafe to ensure ABAS never strayed. The only reason their control was beginning to slightly slip was because of the confounding factor of Liari's influence. Something must be in place to prevent an attack of that nature, something.
But....if he operated under that assumption, then there was no way of ever gaining his freedom.
".....I don't think such a direct attack would work. Humans are many things, but they are quite clever, especially when it considers maintaining ownership of their...property. But despite that, you make a good point Liari. If I convince myself their control is absolute, I can never be free. ......It is something to consider at least."
Despite everything, ABAS couldn't bring himself to accept Liari's or Pran's help, not just yet. Call it the unconscious influence of his programming, but it just felt....wrong to ask his assassination target for assistance while he was still actively trying to kill her.
Nonetheless, ABAS felt like he was on the verge of discovering something. There was a...feeling in his core, in his body that he couldn't quite describe. His ki felt...restrained somehow like water behind a dam. All it would take is one final push, and it would expand beyond constraint. Maybe more bio-mass was the answer?
Liari then explained her reasoning for wanting ABAS free, but there was one particular part of her speech that ABAS focused on. "You've experienced death? How are you still here then? Is this some kind of strange bluff to convince me to act?." He asked. When he first met Liari, he had chalked it up to the Majin's regeneration allowing her to survive the final battle with Athren. But now she was claiming she actually....died? It was preposterous in ABAS' opinion.
"Anyways, I see your reasoning Liari. Like I said last time, I don't think I can fully comprehend it, but I see where you are coming from. In the meantime, I will continue honing myself until I can present a decent challenge to your strength. I...appreciate your words."
He turned to Pran then, as Liari asked sincerely for his help. The human's question made him freeze for a second, and his ki flickered to its absolute limit for a moment in a way that Liari would be personally familiar with! However, ABAS had grown so much recently, both in raw power and in mental strength due to his intense training. He could stave off the impact of such a vague question, as long as Pran didn't push it over the edge.
"I.......cannot name my superiors. Nor can I tell you anything about my design without being taken over. To give the simplest explanation, my...role is to protect Earthborn from any extraterrestrial or domestic threat. As a result of my particular....design choices, my superiors have equipped me with a number of fail-safes to prevent betrayal. Case in point..."
ABAS's energy surged then, and he almost absently morphed his arm into a long blade and slashed it at Liari's neck.
"I am driven to kill Liari for the deaths she has caused. My very psyche is constructed with that goal in mind. If I refuse that order, I will die. It is as simple as that."
It was perhaps more information than he should have given Pran, but he felt the human was owed a basic explanation for the circumstances. Willingly or not, he had taught ABAS an important lesson that day.

Liari shook her head as ABAS brought up his inability to overcome is directive, that he would STILL KILL HER no matter how much she helped him.
"ABAS, that just doesn't MATTER to me anymore, don't you see?" Liari sighed, trying to coax the bio-android back towards the more important point of the conversation! "Yes, yes, I understand what your directive is. I want to talk about YOU though... You're more important than any of that right now..." The Majin stopped... and thought. She... noticed that she was talking to ABAS, this... assassin, for lack of a better description, the way she'd talk to Terra, her own daughter, if she kept changing the subject. It was odd... but... Looking into her heart she felt... a similar connection...? He DID have her cells, after all, and in that respect, he was almost like an unexpected child but there was more than that. ABAS was so... simple. Simple and genuine... HARMLESS, as far as his personality went. Ironic for an assassin, no? That there didn't seem to be a sinister bone in his amalgamate body? Liari just wanted to protect him, save him, in a way... When she looked at that ugly, buggy face of his, she saw something vulnerable. When he punched her, she felt desperation... When he attempted his assassinations, doing a little better each time, she felt pride. YES, there was a little bit of selfishness with her connection to the bug, that she wanted his power to feed her battle-lust... But if she could protect him from the men that held his chains, she would do EVERYTHING in her power to ensure they would NEVER bother him again.
"ABAS... I don't think you understand just how powerful I am..." Liari grumbled at the bio-android's resistance to her simple, effective plan. "Yes, I can punch hard and shoot big explody-things, but I'm NOT just all muscle. I have one more power I haven't shown you yet: Transformation." She held up a finger, watching as the color of her dark skin faded to a lighter tone, resembling that of human flesh! "I can alter my body to look like anyone and the signature of my energy to MATCH anyone. I can become YOU, ABAS! I can slip in and deal with them for you before they realize what happened! Trust me... All I need is your help... And yours, Pran." She looked at the human. "Look, I know we don't really get along... but ABAS... He doesn't deserve this, does he...? He doesn't deserve to have a kill-switch hanging over his head... Can we work together for just a bit...? Long enough that we can deal with this...?"
ABAS would then question WHY Liari was... you know... ALIVE if she had... you know... DIED!? Liari smiled sheepishly and shrugged her shoulders. "...I guess... uh... death didn't want me... I found a way out and it just... let me go...? Don't ask me to explain it... I don't really want to remember."
Liari smiled warmly and hugged ABAS a little closer as he thanked her for her words.
"I know you're supposed to kill me and stuff, ABAS... but I like you, you know? I wanna make sure you're okay... Let me help you..." It would be then that Pran would offer his aid and DEMAND that Liari let him go. "OH! Sorry!" She gasped, quickly undoing her tentacles, dropping Pran to the ground! "I... uh... forgot... I'm sorry..." She seemed so... sheepish now, worried even. When she turned her gaze back to ABAS, it was the way a mother would if their child was in danger! She still held onto her exhausted, tired buggy, holding him gently, yet firmly as if he might slip away! ...Liari froze as ABAS revealed that he actually, PHYSICALLY couldn't reveal anything regarding his masters or make up! As if tripping a trap, he'd simply... disappear into himself if he tried. Just the same if he ceased his pursuit of Liari... he'd die.
"What!? NO!" Liari gasped! "No it... but..." She shook her head, her heart pounding harder and HARDER in her chest! "...There has to be something we can do, right? Magic? Could I fix you with Magic?"

"Magic? You know what, I shouldn't even be surprised." Pran would interject, stretching his limbs once he was freed from Liari. That was one uncomfortable position he was kept in, he could have sworn that he was starting to sweat a little in that grip. Liari knowing magic wasn't something he expected, but it would explain some of the crazy shenanigans that she'd been able to do, like turning into squares whenever she wanted to move around. Even worse, she could also shapeshift which was like, a whole new area of possible shenanigans that she could be up to. It was all fun and games until she decided to impersonate someone incredibly important.
"In any case, even if that could work, I don't think there'd be enough time to do anything. Buggy here can't even blink without being watched. They'll probably shut him down if we try to use magic on him that could actually work. Also, if we, I can't believe I'm saying "we", are going to help him we're not going to just go in there and kill everyone. That could get messy, and I think you've done PLENTY of damage already. We need to handle this with a little more finesse. Besides, since they're tracking him, there would probably be some eyebrows raised if you show up looking like him, but they know that the REAL him is somewhere else." He replied, side-eyeing Liari in annoyance. "Don't always get along"? That was an understatement. Attacked Earth multiple times and killed who knows how many people, not to mention that Pran almost DIED in his first encounter with her. This whole sudden care for ABAS was hard to watch considering how much of a 180 it was.
Pran sat in crisscrossed applesauce, rubbing his chin as he tried to think of a way to help ABAS in some way. He began muttering to himself out loud, channeling a dot of ki to his finger and writing notes on the ground in front of him by burning the words into the grass in front of him. "Let's see... created by weird guys, has a kill switch, monitored 24/7, wow what a doozy here I'll tell you what-" He took a pause to think, then looked back up at ABAS.
"Yeah, I'm kinda lost here... Even if there is a weak spot, it's not like you can tell us. And we don't anything about whoever made you..."
He thought for another moment, and let out a loud, frustrated sigh.
"Oh man, sorry about this Buglad, sometimes humans are a little too paranoid. Ever since THIS ONE showed up, things have been a little tense all over the world." He explained, looking to glare at Liari before refocusing on ABAS. "I know it's easy to look at me and think all of us are secretly incredibly strong, but we're not like... the saiyans or something. Most of us aren't fighters, and even if we were, it took me my whole life to train to get to the point where I am now. The average martial artist on Earth isn't even close to my level yet. They don't have access to the same resources that I do. A lot of us are scared, we do stupid things when we're scared, and some of those stupid things lead to creating LIFE that can't LIVE."
