Crimson Rivers, the beautiful little village that Athren had created for when his crew returned was thriving. It was attracting more and more people by the week and all still had seemed to be going well. The village had been up and running for a few months now and the population was currently up to around seventy five people. This included a handful of families with children and pets. Though Seventy five people hadn't been a lot, it was surely more than Athren had expected to gather and with this number of people things were still going rather smoothly. Disputes between the community were few and far between and when they did occur they were handled at the lowest possible level. Athren never had to get involved and the people seemed to sort their own issues out respectfully. The people were exactly how Athren had imagined they'd be and his little town had seemed to only attract the kind hearted individuals. He knew that eventually some form of trouble would find it's way in, but for now Athren couldn't be happier with the way it was going.
It was the middle of the day, it was a warm, bright and sunny one and a vast majority of the town had been outside doing their daily household chores. Whether that be gardening, running a small farm, providing the town with herbs and medicine, everybody was doing their part to earn their place here. If anybody were to wander into this little town today, they'd surely see all the people doing their hardest work to provide for one another. To help each other as neighbors and friends. They'd see that this community was likely more pure than even the most populated spots on Earth. The people here, had actually seemed to care about one another.
Currently, Athren had been wandering through the cave system behind the waterfall near his own house. He had built a large cave himself in order to appropriately dock and conceal his ship from all those around. One thing he didn't want to do was attract unnecessary attention to the town. He didn't want to put all these innocent people at risk. After all, he was now responsible for each of them. He was exploring a chunk of the caves that had been natural, his own cave had just been lucky enough to connect to this cave system. Though it was pitch black in the cave system, he didn't have any issues for a few nights prior something rather strange had happened to him.
It had turned out that he was still finding out about what his natural demon abilities were capable of. He had thought that when he learned of the magic through the fight with his father, that would be all but that wasn't the case at all. The night previously while he was in his room in the pitch black he had woken up with a painful headache. It was one that put pressure all around his head and the force was quite extreme. Even for him and the amount of pain he went through in his lifetime, the headache alone had felt far beyond anything he could handle. Though this was just a shift in his being, it was something dormant coming through to the surface. It was another demonic ability that had been passed down from his father coming out.
This ability was what he would call his demon eyes. While they were active, his eyes would turn to a dark shade of purple and he would be able to see perfectly in the dark. This was something that he didn't really need but would find useful in certain situations. Though with the added addition of that, they would also block blutz waves from entering his eyes and triggering any kind of saiyan transformation that required them. This would essentially render the full moon obsolete to his great ape transformation and would be beneficial and make it much easier for him to fight under the full moon. While he didn't know the full extent of it, he was wandering the caves getting used to this new nocturnal ability. He spent a few hours wandering the caves, seeing if there would be any use for them in the future and currently he couldn't find any.
After leaving the cave Athren would go back to the center of the town. He made his appearance to the people and talked to all t hose who had been around and at idle. Though he wouldn't start full conversations with them, he'd simply give them a hello and observe the progress of the place. Everything was running smoothly and everybody was happy to be there.
It was strange, Athren had never expected to be in a role such as this. It wasn't much longer than a year ago and he had lost everything. He had wiped Orange City from the face of the Earth and quickly lost his friends, his family and everything he cared about. He was a warrior who only cared for the few under his protection, doing his best to provide for them and now? Now he had his own community of people that he was sworn to protect. Ones that didn't require his work for money, they just needed his protection and they were happy.
As Athren walked down the main trail in town he found himself in what he would call the town center near the well. A border collie puppy would've ran up to him and sniffed his boots. He couldn't help but have an initial reaction of taking a knee and petting the good boy. He even had a question escape his lips. "What'd you think, It's quite a comfortable home.. Huh?" It was in this moment that Athren would use his magic materialization to create a chunk of chicken meat to give to the puppy. The puppy quickly grabbing it and running off quickly, ready to devour his new treat.

Crimson Rivers, huh? Gotta say that's a pretty cool name!
Pran had heard about this village more than a couple of times already. Rumors had it that the leader of this place was present at the battle of South City, and the more extreme versions of them claim that he even defeated her! From what he was sensing currently, that couldn't be the case, but he also understood that appearances could be deceiving. One of the lessons his father managed to hammer into him before his kidnapping was the fact that experienced fighters were notorious for hiding their true battle power all the time. It was easy to see why, too. Other than catching your opponent off guard and conserving resources, imagine walking around vomiting ki from your body all the time, that's exhausting!
His primary purpose here was simple: Find out if this guy was a friend or foe. Crimson Village wasn't too far away from his own, and the last visitors they had weren't exactly interested in being friendly. If it really was true that he played at least some major role in the battle of South City, it meant his power was nothing to sneeze at. If it turned out that he had less than noble intentions, it could spell some major trouble for him and his people.
As Pran made his way to the heart of the center of the town, he found the source of the ki he was sensing. This had to be him, everyone else here was just average. Plus, the clothes he wore (and his tail) signaled that he was not even of this world. He definitely wasn't from here...
On the bright side, he seemed approachable. Pran always considered it a green flag when it came to being friendly with animals.
"To be honest, I wouldn't mind spending a couple of nights here myself!" Pran said, speaking in the dog's place before watching the animal run off. He walked up to the saiyan with his hands on his hips, chest puffed out, and a big smile on his face!
"Heya! You're the one that runs this place, right? Nice to meetcha'!"

Athren couldn't help but smile when he saw the puppy run off. Something about it actually brought a little bit of joy to his system. It was a strange thing, going from a hardened warrior to where he was now but he couldn't deny the fact that he felt like he belonged here. He enjoyed it and it just seemed to fit him perfectly. Here, he didn't have to worry about much. The only real thing he had to focus on was protecting the people in the village and with the lack of threats on Earth, that wasn't a pressing job at the moment.
Of course, Athren would've heard the man's voice as he watched the dog run off to go eat his snack but he didn't respond immediately. He took a moment to smile to himself as he watched the puppy. When Athren was finally ready to respond he'd slowly rise to a standing position and turn his head, his ocean blue eyes sharply glancing at the man that he couldn't say he recognized.
"If that's the case, you're in luck. There's plenty of vacant buildings at the moment and as long as you're not trouble, you're more than welcome to stay awhile."
Athren didn't require payment, nor did he request any type of labor for himself. As long as this man could fend for himself and live off the land and make deals with the neighbors, he'd be fine. Of course this was more light hearted banter, but there was a truth to it if the man was serious about it. Though when the man asked if Athren was the one that ran the place, he had to ponder it for a few short seconds. The truth was, he really wasn't the man who ran the place. Sure, he was the authority figure but the citizens of the village essentially ran it for themselves. They were a very caring community and all the food and supplies were supplied by their own labor and shared across the village. Athren just made sure everything was fair and that there wasn't any trouble.
"I'd have to say the people are the ones who run this place, I simply just watch over it and make sure everything runs smoothly." Athren couldn't help but shrug his shoulders. "I haven't seen you around before so I've got to assume that this is your first time here? Who are you exactly?"
Athren's tone would've been rather casual and calm, of course he was still working on how to communicate with people nicely but he was trying his best and he sure came a long way. He was actually open to having conversations with people and taking time out of his day to do so. As the individual who was looking over this town, it wasn't a bad thing to make connections around the globe just in case he ever needed to source out supplies. Plus, if a threat ever did come it might be in his best interest to have friends. For now though, he'd just focus on seeing what this individual wanted.

"Ha! Yeah, you'd be right! This is my first time here!" Pran replied. Figured that the saiyan would guess he was new, this village was already pretty small. Most of the people here probably knew each other. He stuck out his thumb and pointed to his chest, more than willing to introduce himself. "My name's Pran, I'm from a village not too far from here. I heard about this place showing up on the map, so I figured I come to check it out and see what you guys were about- hey that rhymes. I guess, in a way, we're neighbors!"
Pran lowered his hand and put it back on his hip, tilting his head to the side. His face took that of curiosity before he spoke. "Well, it's your turn, isn't it? you're a battle-hardened saiyan right? I could tell by your armor. "Super elite warriors who conquer their enemies! The blood, sweat, and tears being its own reward! Yaaaaah!"" He stated as he started teasingly doing little air-punches and shadow boxing moves as if to mock the idea of what a stereotypical saiyan was. That being said, these "teasing jabs" were clearly faster than the average person would be capable of. To any experienced fighter paying attention, it was obvious Pran knew a thing or two about fast movement at a pretty advanced level himself. "Who are you, and what motivated you to come out to a quiet place like this and lead a small town like this one? Isn't that a little- er... "un-saiyan-y?" He asked. From everything that he knew about saiyans, they were notorious for being a battle hungry warrior race. And after the attacks that Earth has had to endure from them, particularly Orange City and East City, their reputation wasn't exactly squeaky clean.
Hopefully this confrontation doesn't lead to a repeat of those disasters here. That'd kinda suck... a lot.

Athren couldn't help but listen to the man with his full attention. He was getting better at this whole socializing thing. He could remember a time where he'd much rather just train all the time and avoid this kind of conversation but now? It didn't seem all too bad and he really wasn't putting in too much effort to force himself to be nice. His mindset and attitude were kind of coming naturally, I guess that's just what happens when he took the time to breathe and relaxing. He wasn't going at a very fast pace anymore, he wasn't keeping himself busy day in and day out with training, he was simply just living in the moment and enjoying life. Hell, he hadn't even been preparing hard for the next threat to come but hopefully, Callion was.
It was at this point Athren couldn't help but cross his arms. Though his stern attitude was a thing that was fading away, sometimes old habits were hard to get rid of and this was simply one of his most comfortable poses. "Well Pran, I initially built this place for those who needed a home. There's no bills, no taxes, none of that bullshit. All that's expected is that you avoid trouble and contribute to the community. We're pretty well self sustained at this point." Of course Athren couldn't go into the full details of who and why this place was built but he had managed to kind of get the point across as to why this place came about. Surely, this man wouldn't know of the Dragon Balls or even believe in them and even if he did, Athren didn't want to give him any ideas about gathering them himself.
Pran went on about the warrior race that Athren was apart of and Athren couldn't help but smirk and shake his head lightly. Sure, it might've been who Athren used to be but that wasn't quite the case anymore. "Yeah, I was something like that what feels like a lifetime ago but now I've got more important things to tend to. The lives of everybody here and if required, the safety of the planet itself." It was at this point that Athren shrugged his shoulders. Pran was right, it was un-saiyan-y but it was something that Athren had just felt was right. Athren wasn't going to say that he didn't enjoy fighting, it was still something that was a big part of his life but he just felt that it needed to have meaning. He had spent too much time in his past killing under orders, or fighting for money and those days were behind him. This, what had been surrounding him in this moment was something truly worth fighting for.
"While you're right that this isn't exactly saiyan like, I've still got the drive to fight. The itch for it, the craving for a real battle but I want it to have a higher purpose and these people, this village..? I'd say it's one of the few things I've got worth fighting for." It was at this moment Athren paused all for but a moment. "Athren, by the way."

“Athren huh? That’s a pretty cool name!” Pran replied. Admittedly, Athren had hit a soft spot with all that noble talk of “protecting the innocent and fighting for what matters to you” and stuff. That was like, his whole deal. It looked like they were alike in that way. In the crazy world of evil majins, crazy androids, and who knows what else, it was refreshing to see someone who just wanted to do some kind of good. Who knows, maybe one day the two of them could be some great allies…
Maybe. He did just meet this guy like 5 minutes ago. Maybe he shouldn’t get too ahead of himself.
“Well, I like the way you think! It looks like this village is in good hands!” Pran added. If this guy turned out be lying and actually was evil, at very least he probably wouldn’t be attacking any time soon. Especially his village. It’d seem like a waste to build all of this just to tear it down. He could relax for now. That being said, this was the very first time he had seen a saiyan up close and personal! He figured he could ask him some questions to learn more about them and how they do, er- whatever it is they do. But before all of that…
His impulsive had managed win out and he found himself staring at Athrens tail before looking up at him.
“Okay, hear me out. I know we just met or whatever, but, can I pull it? I just really wanna know what happens. I mean sure, I guess you could tell me, but I gotta like- see it. You know?
…Please? I’ll be gentle!”

Athren wasn't quite sure how to handle the compliment on his name. He never really thought about his own name, he didn't get to choose it nor did he think it was cool. It was just what he was given at birth and has lived with it since. It might've been something unique and different in comparison to most saiyan names but it really wasn't that significant in Athren's eyes. Though if Pran though it was cool, Athren wasn't exactly going to argue with it. He'd simply just let Pran have that thought and move on with the conversation.
"We'll find out if it's in good hands when the times comes, huh?" Athren didn't want to immediately accept that it was in good hands. He was here and trying his absolute best but he wasn't a stranger to failure. He had already lost everything once and though he hoped history wasn't going to repeat itself, there was always that chance. With how vast and large the entire universe was, it was only a matter of time until somebody else came rolling towards the planet looking for a fight and whether Athren would be strong enough or not would be answered then and there. Along with that, Callion had vanished for training and nobody knew when he'd return so it may very well be up to Athren. Unless of course Pran wanted to take the role of a defender of Earth.
Though Athren didn't want to be part of a team, he was more than willing to get people prepared for defending the Earth. It was the least he could do and if he had too, he could assist them in battle when the time came. Though while Athren was thinking about this Pran had asked a very unique question that Athren couldn't wrap his head around. Athren's right brow arched very curiously as he was asked by Pran if he could squeeze the saiyans tail and pull it. The answer was simple.
"Absolutely not, besides nothing would even happen. I've trained my tail, I'm no longer hindered by that weakness. Though if you're rather learn about a true saiyan, we could go a few rounds in my gravity chamber?" Training would've been a much better alternative for them. Not only would Athren get to demonstrate how a saiyan warrior really is through a fight but it would also be beneficial to them both. Athren could sense that Pran had been rather strong for an earthling but there was room to grow. If Athren could get Pran's power level up and close to his. Maybe he'd be the one defending the Earth? After all, it seemed to be Prans home from birth and Athren couldn't think of a more motivational reason to defend it. Now all Athren had to do was wait for pran to accept his offer. Of course there was a slim chance that he wouldn't but Pran didn't seem like the type to pass up such an offer so easily.

"Aw..."
Pran's face expressed disappointment when Athren refused his request. It was expected to be fair, but part of him still had a ray of hope that he could carry out this little experiment of his. Well, it looked like he was going to get nothing more than the reassurance he was looking for out of his confrontation. Better than the opposite, for sure, but this whole thing was admittedly a little boring...
Or maybe not.
Athren made an interesting proposition. A friendly spar? In a gravity chamber no less! Pran had never trained in one of those before, as his village never really required training that extreme. Ki control, scaling mountains, swimming in rough waters, and runs much longer than a normal person could endure were usually enough. Though he supposed that if Athren was really one of the key players in the South City attack, his power had to be incredibly high. A warrior of that caliber probably had to resort to a gravity chamber to continue pushing his limits.
Then again, maybe this was a sign. To continue to protect closest to him from those with ever increasing power, and bring back his father from the Red Ribbon Army, resorting to this kind of training might be the next step he has to take. This was a golden opportunity to find that out.
Screw it, it was a worth a shot. What's the worst that could happen?
"Oh wow, a Gravity Chamber huh? I've never done that before...
Sure! Why not, it could be fun! Seeing a "true saiyan warrior" in action should be quite a spectacle!"
Pran was getting pumped, he hoped this guy would be able to deliver on his expectations.
"Lead the way, Athren!"

It was a rather curious thing to see Pran be visibly disappointed with Athren's refusal to play along with the little request but it had to be expected. What person liked people they just met pulling on parts of their body? Even Earthlings didn't like that sort of thing so why in hell would Pran even bother to ask? The Saiyan tail wasn't just an arm or a leg, it meant something so much more and to an untrained saiyan it was a weakness. Though it wasn't just that, a saiyan warrior just didn't want to be touched like that. It wasn't anybodies tail but his own and he'd refuse to allow anybody to touch it. That's just the way it was going to be. Athren hoped that they'd move on from this quickly and naturally, he really didn't want to be caught up in the loop of this. The faster they moved on, the better it was going to be. Thankfully, Pran was intrigued by the idea of a little spar and better yet, he'd never trained in a gravity chamber.
It was at this point that Athren couldn't help but arch a brow, this was going to be interesting indeed. Since he hadn't trained this way before, this was going to be a lot more effort on Pran than he'd initially expect but thankfully, Athren was going to give him a fair little warning about it, that way he'd have some kind of idea what he was in for.
"Since you've never done it before I'll give you a fair warning, it isn't quite as easy as it sounds and you'll probably spend the beginning of the spar simply fighting to adapt to the extreme weight that's being applied to your shoulders. With every single step you take, the gravity alone is trying to drop you to the floor."
Of course with this warning now in place, Athren would say one last little thing before moving on to the ship. "I'll take it easy on you though, at least.. Until you've adjusted to the difference."
Athren wasn't going to try very hard here, he was simply going to test this guy out to see what he had. He seemed kind enough and friendly enough to prepare for future conflict and the Earth needed people like him willing to fight for it. With the vast population of Earth, there just simply wasn't enough people to stand up and do the right thing, or fight for their planet and that had to change. While Athren didn't wish to be in the spotlight, he didn't mind helping.
"Alright then, follow me."
It was at this moment that Athren would've lifted himself off the ground and headed for the waterfall near his house. He'd have flew through the current and landed at the extended ramp of his ship. The cave it was parked in was quite large and it would've been pitch black expect for the lights illuminating from the ship, giving the gave a feint crimson glow.

"Sure thing!"
Pran took flight after him, following him all the way to a waterfall. He didn't know if Athren had picked this spot to land on purpose, but it was a nice view. It was a pretty quiet and beautiful environment, and he could definitely meditate here for a while if he got the chance. Maybe after their training he could ask the saiyan if he come by every now and again. Could be nice...
Now touching down in the cave behind the waterfall, Pran could get full view of the ship. Was the Gravity Chamber in here? Of course someone carrying an elite warrior status would have a crazy high tech training facility built into their transportation. Never too far away from a good workout. He wondered if he should be taking notes...
While Athren had already warned him about how the Gravity Chamber wouldn't exactly be nice to newcomers, Pran wasn't too concerned. This would be a new experience for sure, but he figured he'd be able to manage after getting over the initial shock. He might not be as strong as some of these other guys walking around the planet recently, but it's not like he was a pushover himself! He'd show him how far a human could really go when they pushed their minds to it!
"Alright, I guess it's inside then? Let's hurry up and go inside! I'm getting pumped!"

Well, Pran had seemed like quite the kind hearted individual. If anything it sort of reminded him about Callion to a degree. Though Callion was a little bit more forward and wanting to test himself, he had a pure and calm heart and it seemed as if Pran had shared that same trait. He wasn't overly eager to get into a fight or to test himself, but he was more than willing to accept the offer. It seemed as if he had a warriors heart too and wanted to put it to the test. It seemed as if he was very thrilled to take part in this little training session, as if he was waiting for it for a long period of time. Though the fact was, this was just going to be the beginning of it all. Once the benefits took affect and Pran truly got to see how strong he'd become after training in a gravity machine.. well, he'd want to do it more and more often and Athren may be willing to help with that.
It wasn't a secret that the Earth had been lacking in warriors. There wasn't many who were willing to step up to the plate and come to defend it. Athren could only count few who he knew that'd be willing to fight. Ayu was strong but she wasn't a fighter and that had simply left Callion, Opherla, the Majin at the battle of South City, Maybe Zerori and the other woman who had a hand in fighting the saiyan invasion. That really didn't leave Earth with too many options and Athren was going to have to get some warriors up to par. He needed strong warriors to fight and take Callion's place until he returned and IF Athren managed to do this with a few fighters, maybe Callion could recruit them to his own little faction. Regardless, it might've been a whole lot to ask for but it was for the benefit of the planet. For now though, it was time to train.
It was at this point that Athren would've led Pran to the center of his ship and into a circular elevator. Once they descended and the doors open they would've been in a large room. One section was to training equipment and workout machines while another section was open and ideal for sparring. Walking out to the middle of the open area Athren would've thrown off his saiyan armor and gave Pran a light smirk.
"You ready?"
He'd ask and await Pran's response. Once he got the go ahead Athren would've nodded his head. "Gravity, Activate to the maximum."
It was in that moment that the room would've been lit up by Red lights and the gravity would've activated. For Athren, it didn't feel like anything anymore but for Pran it would've surely felt like he was being pulled towards the ground with force. Hopefully, he'd be able to manage against it and keep his footing. Though Athren was about to find out.

Pran whistled as he was led pass the training equipment and machinery and into the sparring area. This looked like someone was training to go into a war or something. Yeah, he had some catching up to do in terms of his equipment back home. He didn't even know where to get some of this stuff!
Once they entered the Gravity Chamber, Pran began to stretch as he made his way to the opposite side from where Athren was standing. He couldn't help but notice the saiyan was smirking once he got another look at him. That's probably not good, what does he know that Pran doesn't?
Looks like he was about to find out.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Hit it!"
Once the saiyan gave the order, Pran raised an eyebrow.
"Wow, remote control? That's quite a fa- GYOOAAAAHHHHHHH
He immediately crashed to his knees, barely managing to catch himself! His weight increased tens, no- Probably over a 100 times what it was previously! He gritted his teeth, trying to keep himself from being crushed under his own weight! He could hardly breathe, his lungs struggling to fully expand and contract. He had half a mind to use his Genki to free himself from this gravitational PRISON, but that would defeat the purpose of this exercise!
His whole body was shaking as he slowly looked up back at the saiyan in front of him, who was probably LOVING this.
"Tch- Just- g-give me a s-second!"
Alright, stand on three. One... Two... Three!
"GRRRRRRRRRRRR... GGGGYYYYAaAaAaAHHH"
He, slowly but surely, began to rise.
Eventually he managed to stand- sort of. His knees were still bent and his footing wasn't solid, but at least he was off of his knees. From his awkward position, he put up both of his fists in a boxing-like position.
"Alright- Show me what you got!"

Within the room of the gravity chamber, Athren was about to witness something quite entertaining. Pran would've even have a clue what was about to hit him and that was alright. This was going to be a trial by fire, a training session like nothing Pran would ever experience before and that was exactly what he was going to need. If Pran wanted to get stronger, he was going to need to put himself through more situations that were like this.
Once the gravity had been activated Pran had IMMEDIATELY crashed into the floor on his knees, it was bluntly obvious that this was a little bit too much for him. Athren had the luxury of taking the gravity step by step, never allowing it to fully overwhelm him but Pran? He didn't get that option. He was being put to the test and all while Pran struggled, Athren would simply wait patiently an observe. The weight of the gravity having absolutely no effect on him anymore whatsoever. He was far beyond that, too strong to be brought down but such an artificial force of gravity. Though he couldn't deny that he was respecting the fight Pran had inside of him, especially for what appeared to be a human. Human's hadn't been known for their great feats of strength and resilience and there was few who could hold up to this type of punishment but Pran was clearly an exception to that fact.
Athren wasn't just observing to observe, he was also monitoring carefully. If it had ever appeared to be too much for the human to handle, he would've cut the gravity off and called it a day there. He wasn't trying to hurt this guy and even if they managed to get as far as a spar, he wasn't going to be putting much effort in. This wasn't about the spar, this was simply about testing Pran out. Though when Pran had finally managed to get up, Athren couldn't help but smirk.
"I'm rather impressed, I think you might be the first human to withstand such force."
It was in that moment that Pran had issued the challenge and told Athren to show him what he got. That simply wasn't going to happen, it was likely Pran wouldn't be able to effectively defend himself in this room to start off with and they'd need to take some baby steps here first. Though, Athren would take a defensive fighting stance as his ocean blue eyes locked onto Pran's with determination.
"You're the one struggling, attack me, set the pace."
Of course, What Athren meant here was that he wanted Pran to demonstrate how fast and how powerful he was in the gravity room. This would allow Athren to gauge what speed and strength he would need to use more accurately. Unfortunately here, Power level wasn't going to be the deciding factor on how Athren fought. It would be based purely on speed and power output and Pran would struggle on both ends, surely.

"Struggling...? Ha! This is- holy shit I almost slipped- Nothing to me!"
Pran knew that he damn well wasn't going to be doing any crazy fancy moves that he normally would've been doing. He was going to have to use ranged attacks for now. He managed to get himself to full extend his legs and stand up straight. Unbeknownst to even himself, his body was constantly adjusting its weight, feeling out how much power it needed for each action. Almost as if it was recalibrating. It wasn't necessarily that it didn't have the raw power to handle this much gravity, but rather that it was introduced to a new environment and had to perform a software update of sorts.
Right now, he just needed time.
He threw both his hands forward, figuring he'd get this show on the road. Pran fired multiple ki blasts towards the saiyan as a warm up, just to see Athren's reflexes and agility. To be honest, that comment about how "impressed" he was got under his skin a little bit. All he did was stand under some rinky-dink gravity. Humans were constantly looked down upon on their own planet, and most races didn't seem to even care to learn about them.
First human to withstand this kind of force, huh? I haven't a feeling this guy doesn't know much about humans at all! He thought to himself, a grin slightly growing on his face.
Hmm... I suppose I can give this guy a little taste of what we can do.

Walking into the gravity chamber, Athren was certain of one thing. This wasn't going to be a normal fight, this wasn't going to be a situation where he went all out and tried to hurt his opponent nor was he even going to try to win. He simply wanted to test this human out and see what he was capable of. Athren could sense that this human had great power and even higher potential but all that would be useless if he didn't know how to use it or if he didn't know how to fight. Athren had been well aware that the Earth was lacking defenders. This planet had been soft in comparison to the various planets he had spent time on and that had to change.
While Vegeta had countless soldiers that were far above the average human, it was still a very vulnerable planet but it would have those to lay down their lives to defend it. Even throughout Athren's time on Yardrat, he had learned that the Yardrat's had the techniques to defend their planet. The Earth? It had few with the power to make a difference and even fewer that were willing to put themselves in danger in order to save their planet. It needed to change and that was what this was about.
He took the moment to observe Pran, how he reacted to the words that had been spoken. It was bluntly obvious that he was having some difficulties even if he tried to deny it. A child would be able to see this, Athren's own would know that Pran was in over his head yet the man had tried to hold his head high and push through. It may have taken a moment but Pran would finally initiate this thing. Though his attack style was surprising, Athren was absolutely ready for it.
Athren simply would've lifted his right hand and made a Ki barrier allowing all the blasts to collide with it safely and once there was an opening Athren would use his massive amounts of speed to close the gap instantly. He knew that Pran likely went with range due to the strain he was currently feeling on his muscles. Though now that Athren was close, it was time to strike.
While he may have used his rapid speed to close the gap he had decided to hold back on his initial strike. He brought up his right fist and swung it towards Pran's jawline. It was a smooth strike but Athren made sure that it would be easy to read and predict. He wanted to give Pran a chance here.
"Let's see what you can do then."
He wanted to keep this fight up close and personal for the remainder, he wanted Pran working against the gravity and moving around rapidly. It was the best way to use this gravity chamber and he knew that by the end of it, Pran was going to be feeling a whole lot stronger. Hell, maybe he'd even be the first one to show up next time a threat showed up.
