Space... the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship 'Interpole.' Its continuing mission: To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations... To boldly go where no man has gone before-"
"Blah." Liari groaned, switching off the monitor. BORING. Space was boring, this SHIP is boring... Maybe she shouldn't have gone all the way out here. At least on that Frost-planet, she had family... She had Moire and Terra but HERE... what... the occasional rumble as space-dust *ping*-ed off the surface of the ship. She couldn't even observe the landscape outside because... well... what was there to observe? A black, all-encompassing sky with little white dots flecked across it. ...Absolutely nothing. Liari had to remind herself constantly that she had left for a reason, that she couldn't let it be known to her family that SHE was the one who scalped Frost of its kingdom! She... didn't... exactly... feel... particularly bad about it... at all and she wasn't exactly sure that Moire would CRY over it. She had observed, over the days they spent together, that there was a little bit of a change in her beautiful, purple lass. She had an almost... dark outlook on things as if something had been eating at her from the inside... something... familiar, perhaps?
...It was Terra she was really fleeing from. She wouldn't understand and, honestly, Liari wasn't sure if SHE understood either. It was almost like a switch had been flipped, a compulsion to just... ERASE the irritation in front of her as easily as one might clench a fist. A reflex... something natural. She was too gentle, that pink little girl, too soft... It was better if she thought it was just some monster out there, something her mommas could fight off and defeat or something... At least that way, she wouldn't really know how true that lie really was.
"...How sad..." A voice reverberated behind the majin! Liari whirled around sharply, her tentacles immediately fanning into knives PLUNGING at the space from where it had come! Liari blinked, catching the faintest flash of green before her tentacles flashed through the air, her eyes widening, then narrowing suspiciously.
"...Sad, huh...?" She grumbled, crossing her arms, carefully scanning the ship for life energy... she felt... none...?
"...A mortal bemoaning her own primitive nature... it's so... tragically ironic." Again, the voice came from behind her! This time, though, Liari did not turn to face the threat... She... couldn't sense him... Why? Was he like that man, that THING that tried to kill her and her family all that time ago...? ...No... This thing... it didn't have the same... vibe about him. It was almost... serene? Confident, to be sure... it practically dripped off his every word. Condescension... Not at all like that silent assassin.
"Know your place, mortal. Don't you dare compare me to one of... you." Liari blinked, surprised. She surely wouldn't have noticed it if the figure, so high and mighty was he, hadn't drawn attention to it but... almost like a feather lightly dusting over a ball, she could feel the figure's fingers lightly tapping into her mind. Expertly... professionally... as if he had a lifetime-and-a-half to perfect his talents! ...Janemba and Babadi could learn a thing or two about tact from this one.
"...Know MY place...?" Liari rumbled, her aura starting to blaze around her in her outrage. "You're HERE on MY ship. I make the rules here."
"Tch. How truly foolish." The voice smirked. ...Oh, that's it. With a snarl, Liari WHIRLED around, arm raised UP to BACKHAND whoever stood behind her... only for the majin to feel a smooth, sharp SLICING pain arch through her limb... Liari saw it fly past her face as she completed her rotation, her eyes following it in bewilderment... before laying eyes on the silver-eyed... white-haired... thing. Clearly, he was an alien, the weird white-mohawk, green skin and pointy ears gave that away... but it was his style that caught Liari's eye... She could've SWORN she'd seen it before somewhere! ...Somewhere inside of Babadi's ship... The figure's hand glowed with a rotating edge of energy, a ki-blade coating his hand in blue, edged ki not unlike the blade Quash frequently used. What was up with that technique anyway? Zaks had it... Quash had it... What, would Liari spontaneously learn it too!?
"I believe you're thinking of your Supreme Kai... Shin, was it...?" Liari winced again, feeling the figure's fingers dance across her brain. "...Yes, it's true that gods of a certain stripe wear similar attire. You might say it's part of our tradition."
"Gods...?" Liari muttered, her eyes narrowing, her arm slithering up her pant-leg and reattaching to the stump. "...Then... if you're dressed like that... and you know what I was thinking of... You must be..."
"Why, how perceptive of you." Zamasu remarked, genuine amazement... mixed with condescension. A LOT of it. "...Honestly, from what I've seen of you mortals, you caught on particularly quickly. You should be proud of yourself."
...Liari stared back blankly, irritation creeping into the corners of her frown. WHO the HELL was this guy!? The man seemed to take note of the slight change in her features and sighed, shaking his head.
"Mortals... Such a disappointment... I am a kai, though not from your universe. Do you know what that is, mortal...?" Another blank stare. Another huff of irritation. "...I am a god... you insufferable genie... Though I am not FROM this universe of yours I-"
"...There are OTHER universes...?" Liari interrupted, her blank stare growing blanker.
"DO NOT INTERRUPT ME, MORTAL!" Zamasu roared, his composure BREAKING for an instant! His eyes flared, his aura... or the pressure of it, nearly BLOWING the majin back on her butt! Her jaw dropped, her eyes shot WIDE, Liari's body nearly MELTING in its presence! His power... it... it was somehow even LARGER than Janemba's! With HIS, she could at least sense an end to it but this man... HOW POWERFUL... No... a better question was... What could EVER kill him!? Liari's expression must've amused the god-thing because his smile returned, his temper melting back into a calm, serene... and SMUG smirk.
"...Good. An inferior should fear and praise her betters. Now, listen closely... because I will not repeat myself." Zamasu leaned in, his proximity causing Liari to FLINCH back in shock! His smile grew wider. "...My name is Zamasu... and as of now, I, as far as you are concerned, am your god. You will obey me without question. You will... because if you do not..." Zamasu murmured, lowering his blade towards the majin. "...Well, I have watched your kind develop for hundreds of years, mortal... and I know exactly how to break you. Now, speak: Will you obey willingly...?"
"Y...yes..." Liari stammered, quivering. Zamasu's smile widened, his eyes glinting with a certain controlled madness.
"Good..."
