Roshi's challenges with Terra were both similar to his students of old... but also quite different. Much like the saiyan from the past, Terra was VERY excitable and attentive, wanting to soak up ALL of the information Roshi had to offer like a sponge! Learning to do things a new way was, more or less, a new and fun challenge for the majin to overcome! ...And just like that saiyan, teaching Terra the "Learn Well" aspect of the Turtle School Way was quite... an extensive process. He had never quite figured out HOW to get her to speak in complete sentences (it must've been some quirk of the majin mind), but at least she seemed to pick up on the basics of math, history, and so on. She was eager to learn and, even though she took longer than most to grasp relatively simple concepts, the old man was quite impressed with her tenacity. ...And then there was the whole "Eat Well" aspect that Terra took a LITTLE TOO close to heart. Roshi had learned LONG AGO to expand his pantry into a borderline walk-in-closet after he took on the young monkey-boy as his student. For any man of normal metabolism, it would've taken YEARS to munch through his stock, a perfect precaution for a hermit in retrospect. ...But this little girl, no more than THREE FEET TALL, was giving that monkey-boy a RUN FOR HIS MONEY with how much she ate! AND WHERE DID IT ALL GO!? To this day, Roshi was still impressed with the stomachs of some of these youngsters, consuming and digesting food almost as fast as it was stuffed down their gullets! Each day, Terra took a BIGGER AND BIGGER BITE out of his stock... and the old man couldn't help but weep. It was like the ol'-days all over again... for both good and ill. 

    ...However, unlike the monkey-boy, it was like this girl NEVER SLEPT! Well into the night, no matter HOW MUCH Roshi encouraged her, Terra would be out on the beaches, practicing her solar-flare DAY IN, and DAY OUT! He didn't know how majin biology worked (hell, he barely grasped the basics of saiyan biology) but he didn't think staying up ALL DAY ALL THE TIME was good for everyone! Still, sometimes, Roshi would wake up in the middle of the night to see Terra on the beach, energy flashing... then EXPLODING in her face, knocking her to the ground! She would never stay down for long, though, getting back up... only to be knocked to the ground again.

    "She's some kind of tenacious..." The Turtle Hermit would mutter... before going back to sleep. He would wake up again late in the morning to Terra standing over his bed, face black with soot, SHAKING his arm as if she were trying to THROW HIM FROM IT!

    "GRAMPY ROSHI! GRAMPY ROSHI!" She cried, practically ringing the old man's clock with his voice! "I DID IT! I DID IT! I KNOW SOLAR FLARE!" 

    "Hm? You what?" Roshi muttered, his ol' dusty brain still waking up. Terra would practically scream what she'd said again and THIS TIME, SOMEHOW... it stuck. Roshi shook his head, smiled politely at his student, and shooed her outside... He wasn't yet ready for the day and still need a few minutes!

    Terra bounced eagerly on her feet like a hyperactive meerkat as she waited for her master to join her on the beach, taking the occasional moment to wipe the black off her cheeks... and only succeeding in smearing it around! It wasn't like she noticed! She just needed something to occupy her excitement! OH! She was SO EAGER to show off to her master! After SO LONG trying to keep her energy from BLOWING UP in her face, after SO LONG of nearly BURNING HER EYES BLIND in the effort of making someone ELSE blind, she had PERFECTED IT! SHE HAD! GRAMPY WAS GONNA BE SO PROUD! Roshi took his sweet time waddling out of his bright-pink house, his thick-rimmed sunglasses resting over his eyes! GOOD! She didn't wanna take his sight... like... forever! Just long enough to prove herself! Roshi saw Terra bounding about and sighed, a small smile inching its way up his bearded face. 

    "Alright, Terra. Show me what you've learned."

    "OKAY!" Terra exclaimed, fanning her hands outwards at the edges of her face. Clenching her eyes shut, her back to the sun, Terra unleashed a BLINDING flash of ki that ENVELOPED THE WHOLE BEACH, appearing as if to come from the morning sun itself! "SOLAR FLARE!" Roshi's jaw dropped, him having to turn away slightly and raise an arm to protect his ALREADY PROTECTED eyes! Flashing brightness CONSUMED the island for but a moment before fading, Roshi blinking his eyes rapidly to disperse the spots clouding his vision!

    "SEE!? SEEEEEEE!?" Terra beckoned, the widest grin on her face! "I DO IT! I DO IT LOTS!"

    "Yes. I DID see it..." Roshi chuckled, stroking his beard. "...It almost blinded me through my glasses..."
