That day, two months before the South City events happened, Ayu finally found her niece... But to put things in order, she had to make sure she was able to see and sense her well before trying anything. If she wasn't convinced who she saw that could be a false sense of hope and there was no point rushing there like that. So, to take it calmly at first, she needed to be certain.
And yet, Ayu wasn't so sure. She could have sworn that a tiny pink silhouette was running between the trees on the western side of the world. But, was it Terra? On the other hand, how many pink and cute little Majin girls could be having fun around the place, looking for friends and adventures? It should be her but knowing her luck Ayu might have mistaken her niece for some pinkish dinosaur or someone else - ah, she scratched her temple a bit. No use wondering, she ought to focus more to see. After a deep breath and a minute to calm her strongly beating heart, she was opening her eyes again, letting the sight raise in the air. Like a flying bird, it soared the skies, aiming towards the western forests, lowering its wings to dive between the trees and bushes. It felt so surreal, like she could see more and more the longer she was adjusting to this ability. Dende was right, it comes naturally after a lot of practice and Ayu had to admit that it started to be easier... The only problem was focusing on one spot for her to see while her sight was always on the move as if trying to cover the widest area possible... Stroking her temples again, Ayu blinked a few times.
Focus. She needed to focus.
Once more she tried. Again, starting from the Lookout, Ayu's sight rose in the air and soared through the sky to dive like a hawk between the forests green. Faster and faster, while standing on the edge her mind and eyes were looking for clues down below. She passed by the trees, groups of people hiking near the mountains, and wild animals on the hunt. There was no time to admire the view but something was indeed charming in this way of watching the world. So close and yet so far. Ayu knew that it could be a good means of spying on others, seeing what they would not want them to see and it was a matter of invading privacy - she wasn't going to abuse this power, no. It gave her every possibility to do so and maybe there be a time when she will have to watch carefully every action of Earth's enemies - but she wished that it won't happen anytime soon. For now, Ayu was observing the area, looking for one specific person, and - yes, the shape was just right. A silhouette popped out of nowhere, jumping out from the bushes. A little pink girl with black and red eyes, wearing a white dress, her clothing was a little dirty from adventures in the wilderness...
She found her!
Not wasting any second, Ayu turned around and run towards the inside of the temple. Jumping two stairs at once she reached the room that was being cleaned by Mr. Popo. Guardian's attendant stopped dusting the shelves, blinked, and looked at her in surprise when he saw her catching her breath. Ayu shook hold her head quickly and grabbed his hand with eyes gleaming with hope. Maybe it was the most expressive face she made since she came to the Lookout...
"Mr. Popo, may I borrow your carpet?" she asked, her tone shifting between worry that she won't make the trip in time and joy that she will see Terra again. The man in the turban blinked and perhaps not able to oppose her enthusiasm, nodded his head instead.
"Please be careful on your way," Popo stated, raising his hand. The magic carpet appeared next to him, rolled neatly and ready to be used. He handed his means of transportation to Ayu.
"I swear I will be right back!" those words she said while already making her way halfway up the stairs to the higher levels of the Lookout, holding the carpet in her arms.
As soon as Ayu reached the open space, she unrolled the carpet. It stayed in midair, gently floating two feet above the ground, soundlessly, ready for departure. Mr. Popo taught her once how to use it so she wasn't too scared about it, it was time that was of the essence. Ayu sat in the middle, focusing her mind on the western forest, the one that she saw Terra in... She saw it with the Far Seeing Eyes - and suddenly the blue skies and white floor of the Lookout blurred, and she was in the middle of the thick and dark woods. Magic.
But she couldn't spot any small and pink Majins in the area... Ayu sighed and patted her cheeks to keep herself focused. Using both her Ki-sensing ability and sight, her mind was browsing through the forests and meadows as if she was looking for the right book in a packed library. Taking turns and twists when the path would end, flying above the bodies of water and through the thick bushes... Passing by the crooked trees and piles of stones, seeing how the wild critters were playing in the tall grass. But that wasn't something she needed right now, she was looking for someone precious. She had to find them, she had to... And, like a charm, a familiar presence caught her attention. Someone pink was sitting on the tree branch above the river, trying to reach for an apple above her head. Ah-ha! The carpet moved before she could say anything and suddenly Ayu was floating near the apple tree, above the small and calm river gently murmuring under her. Terra was reaching out to the round fruit above her head, so focused on her task that she didn't notice her aunt on a flying carpet two feet away from her... When she finally did, she blinked astonished, turning her head to look at her.
"I've found you," Ayu chuckled warmly, relief and affection filling her heart. The carpet flew closer to the tree as she reached towards the little Majin, opening her arms.
It didn't take long for a wide smile to appear on Terra's face.
"Auntie!" she called out, bouncing off the branch, and Ayu caught her quickly, pulling her close into a tight embrace.
And she wasn't going to let go so easily this time.
