Zerori watched with an amused expression as each rock that was thrown shattered upon impact against Athren as if they were little more than dirt clods. She’d expected as much but had fun throwing rocks with the force of bullets anyway - keeping a close eye on him as he rushed at her. Her question hung in the air, awaiting a response, as she reacted smoothly to his counter attacks by swinging away from his first two attempts to smash in her nose. He was fast - a lot faster than she thought he’d be - but she felt confident that they weren’t impossible to dodge.
That was, until they were actually getting INCREASINGLY more difficult to dodge. Her eyes narrowed on him as she was finding herself not only getting outpaced but always pushed back. She was only able to avoid three more swings before they were finally starting to connect. It started as a graze here and there, then she lost her footing and caught a nasty clip right against her side - which completely threw off her balance. From dodging with grace to huffing through her nose with every hit she had to physically block, Zerori almost forgot she’d asked a question in the first place when Athren started to speak.
She did her best to keep up on both fronts; listening to him explain that the power he found was based on a need, likely in a very dangerous and life-threatening situation. Huh. That sounds familiar-! Zerori thought with a strained smirk, just before she gave a grunt of pain when another swing caught her right in the eyebrow. With a wince, Zerori lunged backwards only to feel her back hit a tree and growl low in her throat at the irony of such an obstacle. Good thing this tree can’t stop me!
“A boy, huh? That sounds like you figured it out pretty young-!” Just before his leg came up to try and catch her in the side, Zerori would jump into the air and grasp onto the limb that had hung mere feet from the ground before pressing her boots into the bark behind her and pushing off into a front flip and landing just behind Athren in a crouch.
Trying to use what element of surprise she might have gained, she swung out with a leg to try and sweep his feet, “I have a similar story but,” She managed during their bout, “-I didn’t start discovering my abilities until after I was operating my own BUSINESS!” She finished with a yell, attempting to swing with all her strength once she’d regained her footing in the direction of his gut. It was a simple back and forth that kept her on her toes and tell her everything she wanted to know about his fighting style. “Tell me more!” She demanded, trying to regain more space between them with a jump backwards. "If your kids are part Demon or somethin', that means your part Demon, too, yeah? What about your folks? Which one was the Saiyan and which one was the Demon?" She had a sneaking suspicion all her life that it was her mother that was reason she was so strange, even if 'Demon' wasn't the word she would have gone with to describe her as.
All around them as they fought, the trees, dirt and rocks would tremble and shift - respectively either losing leaves and cracking and falling apart as they used them to keep the other close or keep distance from the other during their back and forth.

Throughout the entire situation, Athren had found himself having quite a bit of fun. The conversation, the playful fighting. It brought him a sense of focus on this one situation, yet it was all about enjoying the moment. His next move didn't really matter, nor did whether he'd take a hit or not. What made it more interesting is the fact that they had been completely even as far as power scaling went, no fighter was above the other in strength which meant the fight would have a very balanced transition between offensive and defensive plays.
When her back had hit the tree, Athren had simply kept up his attack. The conversation faded for only a brief moment as it seemed both of them got lost in the moment. As she rapidly moved out of harms way and his foot completely missed her, Athren would've replied quickly to her statement as he tried to turn around quickly enough to catch what she had been doing. "I didn't have a --.." He quickly had gotten cut off by force of the impact upon his legs, though it wasn't a damaging attack it was enough to make him land on his back hard. "Choice!" He exclaimed with a mild grunt escaping his lips.
Laying flat on his back and his body exposed, his ocean blue eyes widened as he saw the powerful kick incoming towards his gut. He really didn't have many options at this point but a simple roll. Narrowly dodging the attack, the kick would have left one hell of a mark on the ground. At this point Athren would have rolled himself into a position to place a hand on the ground and spring himself up into the air but only about a few feet in height. "And what is it that you do for work exactly?" He asked rather quickly as his feet had made contact with the ground. He wanted to know what she did, surely she was one that put her fighting abilities to good use, it would make the most sense and make for an easy pay day, most of the time. At least, That's what Athren had got to experience with his own little faction.
His feet hitting the ground, Athren had immediately pressed forward and tossed himself towards her. This wasn't a move he'd do in a real fight, to him this was simply just a game."My father was the demon! Never met the bastard though!" He exclaimed before he lunged towards her in an attempt to tackle her to the ground and if successful he would make an attempt to straddle on top of her. Of course if he had missed, he would be left open for more hits but if he didn't, he might be in a position to land a few hits.
Assuming that Athren's tackle had worked and he did manage to get on top of her, his right fist would have cocked back as he looked down at her. Preparing to aim a punch right for her face something rather unusual happened. A moment his eyes had landed upon her blue shaded ones, Athren bit his lip ever so gently and hesitated for all but just a moment, his fist lingering in the air for longer than it should have. By time he actually began to throw the punch towards the woman she would have had plenty of time to slither her way out of the entire situation.
It hadn't exactly been a normal for him to talk so much during a sparring session, but he was trying his best to meet her in the middle with their small talk. He wasn't one to hold back or lie, so he'd more than likely fill her in with everything she wanted to know, at least until it came down to his line of work and why he was truly there. Sure, he'd have no issues saying what he did for work but he wouldn't risk the contract, it just wasn't in him. As far as his own history went? Hell, it didn't much matter to the present so it was fair game. Surely when he had a moment that didn't require rapid movement, he'd more than likely speak a lot more about it all.

The longer their spar went on, the more Zerori liked just how dexterous this man was. Rather than simply taking her hits and trying to prove some sense of bravado over her, he took the severity of her attacks earnestly and dodged them. It was a good thing, too, because she didn’t like to pull her punches! Just as she was doing, Athren would ask his own questions while answering hers and the question he pitched was one she had actually had to pause and think on for a second. Should she be honest and tell him that she was basically a hired hand on the side while building up her own business of organized criminal mischief? The first thought that came to her was… honestly no, but he didn’t really seem like the type to give a damn, either.
What could he do? Rather, what would he do? Tell her to turn over a new leaf and be productive in society? Absolutely not.
Still, she chose the safer route for now, “Let’s just say I’m a problem solver!” She laughed, not entirely lying but allowing just enough vagueness to leave the actual job to the imagination. If he stuck around long enough, she might tell him more. As it was, however, her little pause in thought left her with little time to react as he launched himself at her with the intent to tackle her to the ground - successfully, at that!
“Ugh!” With a grunt of surprise, Zerori’s back slammed against the ground - stunned for a moment and left open to attack. However, when she opened her eyes to formulate some kind of defense, an awkward moment of pause stretched between them. Athren was there, poised above her with his fist pulled back yet… for a reason she couldn’t fathom (and she’d bet currency in the triple digits that Athren didn’t either) he didn’t strike her immediately. While confused, Zerori didn’t allow the moment to pass her by however! Using her tail to grab at Athren’s ankle, Zerori attempted to topple him over and turn the tables on him with a grin as she made to straddle the warrior with her own strength.
Her voice dropped a few octaves as she leaned over him, not interested in the least in attacking him while she had the advantage. With one hand on his chest keeping her balanced, she pointedly tapped the front of his chest with a finger as she spoke, “Your father, huh? I’m fairly certain it was my mother, but I’ve never been able to confirm it,” She winked, playing up on his hesitation with her own wiles before getting up from the ground and holding her hand out to him, “What distracted you?” She then asked, curious more than disappointed that his moment to attack her had come and went. She wasn’t some damsel in distress and was certainly not someone to hesitate in battle against.
So what stopped him? She had her suspicions…

From the moment he had been on top with a fist cocked back to the moment he was flat on his back with her on top of him had transitioned in a blink. Using her tail to flip him around was a clever tactic, one he'd never thought of using. It was an odd thought, but Athren NEVER used his tail in combat, even in situations where it could be practical as she had just demonstrated. He'd have to give her credit, if he could muster up that train of thought while his brain was so far gone elsewhere. Even though her words had went so fast passed his ears, he still managed to take note of what she was saying, the demon was her mother's side? Or so she thought? It was a fun little contrast, just given unique yet so similar they were to one another. He'd never met anybody like him.
The adrenaline pumping through his body had made her words seem quick but her contact against his body so slow, where she had been applying weight almost sensitive to her touch, from the way she straddled him to the poked on his chest, those points of contact had seemed to send ripples through his body.
It was only when she had gotten up and offered him a hand up that he started to come back to normal and be aware of the situation. He felt like he was in a temporary trance, felt like his body and mind had gone somewhere else completely but for now he was back. Upon hearing the straight question about what distracted him, his eyes wandered to his right and glared off into the distance for only but a second.
When his eyes returned to hers, he couldn't help but give her sly little smirk. He didn't chuckle, he didn't give any other signs of playfulness. He simply retorted with a smart ass like comment to redirect the ball back into her court. "You're the problem solver aren't you? I'm sure you can figure it out." It was at this point he gave her another playful wink. Though if he was being completely honest with her, he wouldn't have an answer for that at all. It could've come down to the look in her eyes, the color of them, maybe it was just something about her face, he didn't really know.
All he did know was that he was genuinely enjoying her company and he really didn't want this moment to end and given his track record, this was a very unique experience for him. It wasn't even that he wanted anything from her, though there was an attraction it wasn't about that. It was the playful attitude and the harmless entertainment they just had, it brought something out of him he hadn't felt in years. She had also brought a sense of security to the mix, as in he could be straight with her, he could be himself without consequence. It was something he rather liked.

She could tell by the way Athren looked off to the side like some teenager that she managed to get under his skin - even if only briefly. Like the fighter he was, his own charisma came back to fold with the sharpest retort that had Zerori actually snort before covering it up with a well-timed clear of her throat. “Oh yeah? Alright, let’s see how on the nose I am about what just happened there,” She teased, her tail swaying from side to side with such a slow and sensual ease that it didn’t take a genius to know that she was up to no good. To add salt in the wounds, Zerori would languidly pass around Athren as she spoke. “Evenly matched and trading words as well as blows, you got a little overzealous and managed to catch me off guard,” She narrated with a start, passing his flank before gently thumping against his side with her tail.
When she stopped behind him, however, her tone went from the higher pitched tone of playfulness to a lower octave as she leaned toward the back of his shoulder, “-but you didn’t expect the sudden sensation of tackling a woman to the ground, did you? The firm curves,” She whispered, “-the womanly whiles-!” She chuckled, her voice rising a little before she… couldn’t continue anymore and burst out laughing. “Oh, the hormones!” Zerori managed to finish while throwing a hand to her forehead in the perfect impersonation of a dramatic prima-donna before she was overtaken by another fit of laughter.
Honestly, if this didn’t fluster Athren, Zerori would have been content to just enjoy the mirth of her own performance! She didn’t even mind if they continued her agreed compensation of a spar or not, she was having so much fun just being around him.
When her heart would slow and laughter ease into just a beguiling smile, Zerori would find a large and gnarled root that managed to arch up from the ground to sit on and plop her ass with a sound of exertion before she ran a hand through her hair, “Sorry, but you just left yourself open. I couldn’t help it,” Her grin turned devilish, giving a final wink before finishing, “-you’re very easy to pick on, you know.”
The time they spent out here, though she was sure it could not last for too much longer, made Zerori realize that it was just the right amount of relaxation she needed outside of her clandestine and ambitious goals. Still… they were important and Zerori knew she had to return to them eventually. With that in mind, Zerori would give a roll of her shoulder before bringing the topic up, “I’m pretty content with the result of this trade, though I wouldn’t be opposed to rain check another time when I’m… not so busy,” She hesitated, wanting to still keep the manner of her business rather vague. She nodded upwards at him with her chin, "You cool with that?"
She was fairly confident he would be, based purely on what she surmised was her... 'womanly intuition'?

Athren would have thought he was at a safe place after his comment, he figured she wouldn't confront it in such a blunt and narrow fashion. He couldn't help but think she'd narrowly dismiss the topic and brush it off to something else, after all how many women would actually control the fact that a certain individual was definitely getting a little 'rowdy' over their perfect curved figure. Athren listened to her closely as she teased him, he observed her tail swaying with such graceful ease. She moved around him slowly, she had kept on talking and allowing her tail to gently bump into him, he knew it was intentional, maybe to keep the feeling of ecstasy Athren was feeling ever so alive. She was something else entirely, his heart raced and his mind clouded. He wanted her, physically more so than anything.
She had stopped behind him, leaning towards the back of his shoulder she had continued on. The way she executed it all had just added to the sexual torment that Athren had already been experiencing, adding to the urge to make a move in an attempt to take her right there, he remained silent with his words, all but a deep exhale of the air from his lungs giving her any indication of exactly what he was feeling at this very moment in time. She may have very well hit the nail on the head with extreme accuracy and in this case, with extreme force as well.
Though there was a moment where her laughter had kicked in, though it didn't negate the urges coursing through his body, it brought him back into the moment and out of his thoughts. Another exhale of air would be heard as his eyes lowered ever so slightly and with a little nip of his lip, he tried to calm himself down in a more innocent way. His silence was more than enough of a response, it was a dead give away that she was actually right in her suspicions and there wasn't a damn thing Athren could do about it.
For moments he listened, but he still couldn't muster up the appropriate thing to say. She had him quite speechless the way she called him out, she was either that observant or she had experience dealing with men such as him and he wouldn't put either of them passed her at this point. He had finally felt as if he had gotten a break, when she mentioned a rain check and he finally found the right words to say.
His eyes had finally lifted up and he turned slightly to look her in the eyes once more, his ocean blues still shining as brightly as ever, even if she basically hit him with the verbal equivalent of one of the strongest Ki based techniques in the universe, and if he was honest he'd rather deal with that Ki blast, at least he'd know what to do with it.
Simply nodding his head Athren would finally break his silence even though he was obviously still rather flustered. He kept it rather short and sweet, she had put him in a position of check-mate. "I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't." He said in terms of being content with the results of this little scenario, it was fun and he was glad they had got to meet. "and as far as seeing you again, I think I'd have to say I'd like that." She had gotten to him in such a short time, that he still wasn't sure how to react. Even the way he spoke was slightly off, hopefully he could recover in time for an appropriate goodbye.

If she weren’t so perceptive, Zerori would have thought she might have broken the man. While some might look at him and assume he’d been sorely brow beaten by her accurate (and borderline telepathic) assessment, Zerori was privy to what most might not notice. He wasn’t a base-operating male, evidenced by the lack of spontaneous reaction that Zerori expected out of the men of her kind. Very few ever possessed a calculating and patient enough temperament to take what she dealt without feeling the need to flex their muscles and shout back at her.
So when her offer of a rain check was met with bright and determined eyes, Zerori savored the shiver down her spine. That rain check might come sooner rather than later, She mused giving a brief once over with her eyes before she gave an accepting nod. “At least one of us isn’t a liar,” She returned, giving him just a little bit more detail about herself under the cover of a teasing remark. Let it not be said that she wasn’t willing to compromise with those who were patient with her. At his last comment, Zerori would turn around and start to make her departure but not before giving him a little more.
“Good, because I wasn’t actually offering,” She called a little louder over her shoulder, a hidden grin as she left. “Don’t miss me too much, Athren! We’ll be seeing each other real soon,” And already, though it wasn’t exactly her kind of style, she was thinking of the next time she would aim to try and track him down. Fate worked in all sorts of weird and interesting ways, however...
She might be seeing him a LOT sooner than she would actually expect.

Something about Zerori was unique, she hadn't been like anybody he'd ever met before and that was a statement that included his ventures throughout the universe. She wasn't like a human, she wasn't like a saiyan, she was something else entirely. Her attitude, her playfulness, he straight to the point and seductive behavior was all something that was new to him and Athren wasn't quite sure how to handle it all. Of course he was just going to be himself but he felt like his normal games when it came to the opposite gender wasn't quite going to work on her the way they did on everybody else. She was strong, in body and in mind and just over all something else. It was a refreshing thing to find somebody so unique and different, it was almost exciting.
Upon hearing her words there wasn't much else to be said, he'd watch as she shifted her posture and began to make her leave. Though her last statement would be more than enough to cause another slick smirk on his own face, along with an arch of the right brow. Though as she walked away, his ocean blues couldn't help but admire her figure, after all they had been right in front of him swaying as she walked away.
The only thing Athren would muster up would be short and sweet, "I'll see you then." He didn't need to break it down or try to plan something out, he figured they'd bump into each other sooner or later and now that they both had a general sense of their Ki signatures, it'd be pretty easy to track each other down if they wanted too but Athren wasn't like that, he'd let this go naturally, he'd let the universe or her decide their next meeting, after all he didn't need to appear to be chasing her, that wasn't his style at all.
Now that Zerori had gone, it was time to get back to his day though he wasn't quite sure of what that would consist of. His kids had been dismissed and made their way back to the camp and he was free for a little while, maybe a nice path in the river or maybe some more training, he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to do but there was still quite a lot of time in the day to make use of. Whatever he'd decide upon, he'd make the best out of it. It was at that point that he lifted up off the ground and took off in the air ready to continue his day. He still had a lot of work to do in preparation for wiping the USD base from the Earth and for a brief moment, he wondered if that would be something Zerori would be interested in. Even though the though was there, it only lasted a few moments. He couldn't really ask her, could he? Would it risk anything? Who knew, but he wasn't about to gamble that on a woman, at least not yet.
