The night life was always far more appealing to the demon, the shining expanse of the sea of stars. The time when less people were about, only the eccentric or the most fool hearted of individuals would wonder about. The sky was clear, the stars littered the ebony blanket known as space, the whole galaxy seeming visible from their location. Kamae had to admit, the only time he felt this small was when he was outside of creation. He could feel that sinking feeling in his stomach, that all familiar sensation of realization. Sure Kamae could do devastating damage to a world in his original form, but it was still a tiny gran of sand at the end of the day. He hadn't considered... how would he destroy the suns without having to go to each one? The demon couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he thought about a new little experiment. Could he extinguish a sun? He had never tried before... The results on the ecosystem would be MARVELOUS to witness. A sudden bump from behind caused the demon to step forward as he remembered he was on a side walk going up a hill. Resuming his march up the side of the mountain on the narrow road, Kamae continued to admire the beauty that was the galaxy. How... did the shinjin create a sun? He hadn't thought about that... it was what gave most life its energy and kept it alive... If he just destroyed their suns, then life would begin to fall apart in larger scales than if he took the time to waste energy on destroying each planet.... Already Kamae had an idea and clapped his hands together in joy. Another brilliant discovery with a theory to boot! Yes, today was going to be a good- A flash of light, the demon was just cresting the hill when three people in front of him were struck by a moving bus, its horn sounding far to late as they were turned to paste in front of the demon. Kamae on the other hand held up his hand, a glint of silver in the air below his fingers before he waved his left hand outwards. The threads attached to his fingers becoming visible as the bus was suddenly thrown into the air wildly. The steel like fibers holding the bus firmly in the air as it bounced above the demon, bobbing and swaying gently from the momentum. Sneering his dislike of the fact the bus almost hit him, Kamae walked out from under it and let the bus fall to the ground. The people inside would be rattled but safe. Kamae turned to look at the bus while people swarmed it to help the wounded. Kamae was approached but quickly people backed away because of his eyes most likely. He said nothing about it, instead simply turning to walk away while whistling a tune. An eerie song that played through the wind and was strangely ethereal. The people about the place seizing up before falling to the ground slowly dying from his magic. The tune was a simple magic infused song, harmless to most stronger fighters but to every day civilians, the results were seizures. The demon would slow a moment as a sense of Deja vu over came his senses. Abruptly the demon's song would halt, the civilians quickly recovering as they looked to each other. Unaware the demon's song had effected them. They quickly scurried away, probably to leave it to the police or others. Kamae simply chuckled while entering a bar. A few people at the bar were already looking out and about for the source of the noise. Thankfully this left a few seats at the bar open and the demon simply sat down before pulling off his jacket. When the bar keep laid eyes upon Kamae's own, he hesitated but ultimately took his order. The demon watching as the drink arrived, a simple little wine. The demon slowly raising it to his new lips before taking a slow drink. The liquid hitting his tongue was the first sensation Kamae felt. The coolness of it spreading through his mouth as he tried to savior this moment. The demon then immediately noticed the taste, and while it wasn't his favorite, it was heavenly in that very moment. He simply closed his eyes before finishing the drink in one go. The bar tender eyeing him oddly before giving him his refill. The demon watching as the liquid was slide back to him. The liquid finally coming to a stop as he stared at the crimson liquid. Billions and billions of years... Eons upon eons had he waited for this singular... moment. The moment when he could taste again, the moment he could FEEL the joy of eating or drinking. The demon's eyes watered up at the sheer joy of this moment. The bar tender would give him a rather strange look only to leave him be. The demon saving this moment of victory. All of his sacrifices.... all of his defeats... all of his lost ones... all the faces he had forgotten after eons... The demon took another drink from his cup. A flash back to the civilizations he had slain, the betrayals, and the deals. Another sip would remind him of the days when he worked with Derry... though those days were long gone and scarcely remembered, he treasured them. That was what it meant to live, to survive after so long. The demon slowly lowered his drink then, alone in the bar, staring while he tried to remember everyone he ever loved... He couldn't even remember his origin hardly... Where it all began. Ahh... it would seem not even an elder demon was not immune to the effects of time. The sound of talking could be heard as more people enter the bar, and resume their drinking. The demon simply closing his eyes while he enjoyed the first drink ever since the beginning of his life. The elder demon saving every single drop like it was the rarest thing in the universe.

In the time Zerori had taken to keep herself in shape - be it through the various missions she’d put herself through no matter the conditions or even just training within her safe house - it had been a good long while since she’d isolated herself away. In her bid for a time of self-isolation to get her shit together, Zerori had left many people without any contact to know where she was. Ayu, Maycair, even Shen, the Crane Hermit had actually managed to get a few messages to her through her classified support network. For a man who hated to ever text someone, he certainly had ways to get into contact with people who DIDN’T want to be found.
So, until she could get the gumption up to actually talk to him… Zerori had decided that an island far from the mainland with a rather interesting settlement would do. She could get warm-up in the sun while getting her body warmed-up for her training and at the end of the day, the village offered enough amenities to keep her entertained and ready to start it all over again. Near the end of her first day, sweaty and wearing little more than her red boots, spandex pants and a sports bra because it was WAY too hot to wear anything more than that, Zerori was jogging up the mountains and through the village to what she hoped would be an open bar. Thankfully, she’d found just that very thing, even if the area was quickly getting loud with people frantically trying to get somewhere.
The lights of the cops had her curious but her thirst was her priority.
Pushing open the door, albeit a tad bit too hard, Zerori was presented with the cozy insides of a rather dark bar. While it wasn’t scarce in any manner, she could see that there were still quite a few people that took up temporary residence. Cooled by the air conditioning and smell of 85 proof liquor, Zerori grinned as she entered. “Evenin’ everyone,” She teased amicably, ignoring the awkward or disapproving looks to continue straight away to the bar. "Crazy out there, ain't it?"
Most of the seats were taken in a row, leaving her to sit a seat over from a rather broody individual. She cocked an eyebrow at them, giving them a once over and noticing their higher than usual power before she gave a shrug and turned to the bartender. Immediately, she was all smiles and flirty words, “Mudslide, please. And a glass of just ice,” With a nod, the bartender would begin to expertly prepare her drink. For those next moments, though, in any other situation, Zerori would be left to just be awkward and silent. Unfortunately for her seat neighbor-
She didn’t do awkward.
“Hey,” Zerori would call softly to the stranger with a jacket over their chair. “Bad break-up or… just a tough day?” She noticed the signs of what looked to be tears but didn’t want to point them out particularly. From her place at the bar, the sheen of sweat making her skin a bit glassier than usual as she looked over discretely. On her face, the only evidence of a smile was the slight upward quirk of her lips as she tried to be approachable but also remain as unaffected by the odd occurrence of a man crying in public.

The elder demon was so lost in his own rapture he failed to notice the girl beside him. His focus on the liquid treasure he had experienced after so many eons. That is until she spoke to him, and the demon's eyes slowly opened to look at the ceiling, wiping away the tears slowly. He lowered his glass before looking the girl over once. Militaristic, sweat and black hair.... The demon at first said nothing before smiling faintly and letting his glass settle down onto the counter top.
"My dear... The last few years have been rough on an old man like me. I was just relishing the taste of life..."
Kamae said with a smile, his eyes locked onto his own reflection and in so doing hers as well. She was pretty, blue eyes and fair complexation. He would slowly take another drink from his glass before chuckling once more.
"My name is Loki, a pleasure to make your acquaintance miss...?"
Kamae left that part open for her to introduce herself while he continued his drink. Once finished, the demon would simply gesture for a new type of drink, one hopefully more tasty than the last. Once more his eyes drifted to hers while he listened to whatever she had to say, the elder demon being respectful to the girl while he waited patiently for his drink.

Well, she was relieved to know that he wasn’t suffering now at least. Still, she was fairly certain there was more to unpack there than he was giving her. She supposed it wasn’t really her business to begin with. As he wiped the tears from his eyes and asked her name, the bartender had returned with a drink for her and she took it gratefully before answering, “Zerori. A pleasure as well, Loki,” She returned before taking a sip of her mudslide and giving a smile at the chocolatey taste. “Mm, can never go wrong with a little Kaluah.” She chuckled, sliding her glass over to him. “Give it a try. Don’t drink too much, though, not because it’s my drink but because it’s meant to be sipped,” She teased.
Whether or not Loki would actually taste her drink or not, Zerori would take it upon herself to look said mystery man up and down before she took her gaze facing forward and took a sip of her glass of water. Ever since the last time she’d gotten drunk with Rhapsody and that man, Yangcong, Zerori had thought for a while about how Rhapsody had looked before she’d done whatever she did to heal the toxins from her body. She was still reeling from the feeling and hoping this wouldn’t become some fucked up addiction. For now, she settled on moderation… for her sake.
She glanced back at Loki and allowed a smirk to help distract herself, “I don’t know much about this place since I’ve only been here… what three? Four days? But this sure knows how to make a drink,” She threw a teasing wink in the bartender’s direction before taking her drink back to attempt to drink more - heedless of whatever bacteria or cooties the stranger-turned-acquaintance might have had. “If it ain’t my business, that’s fine but if you’re willin’ to tell, I’m down to listen,” She brought a hand up, propping her elbow against the surface of the bar before she took another sip. “You seem like you got stories to tell.”

Kamae chuckled a cold laugh as the girl slide him a drink, the demon taking a moment to consider before trying it out. Such a strong taste at first made the demon recoil at first, having not had anything to taste in such a long time. But after a few more tenative sips, would take a proper dose and lean back to enjoy the taste. The demon leaning his head back as he felt the piano of eternity play its cords through his whole frame. Ahh how long had he had waited... Such rapturous joy!
Shivering in delight, the demon returned his golden eyed gaze back to Zerori who spoke of this "place" three or four times. She could be referring to the bar, or to the world. He believed the bar, and as such looked about the place curiously. No such place existed in his realm... at least, he didn't think it did.... This realms geography was beginning to sink into his mind. He was forgetting his old universes worlds... slowly if not surely. An effect of this universe? Perhaps... Something to keep an eye on.
"haha! Loosen my tongue with drink and then ask for my story is it? Young folk this days, cheeky little things."
Kamae stated, removing his jacket only to sling it over his knees. The demon leaning in so his elbows rested on the counter tops, his smile still there as he thought back on the eons of time, of his time in that other place... so far, so distant now. He had only been here a few days but already it was beginning to grow distant... still he could recall a few stories. Some the girl might like.
"Aye, I can remember a lot of things. I have centuries worth of stories to tell, and those are just the good ones. I've lived a long time girl."
The weight of that last sentence was like a barbell onto the room, the demon's eyes lowering as he felt the weight of time upon him. The eternal struggle for survival, that was all it was in the end... He had won, he didn't need to struggle anymore. He could simply return to the void, go to sleep and never awaken again. Not death, but eternal rest as he deserved.... The demon's eyes then looked up at the mirror, eyes half lidded with exhaustion and fatigue.
"You know... I don't know why I'm even here..."
Kamae stated, staring himself in the eyes, angry at himself for subjecting himself to this torment again. He lived... AGAIN! Why did he wish to suffer so like any mortal, why did he wish to live in this accursed realm of creation? Why did keep coming back? Why didn't he just stay down.
"Its been a long... long road miss Zerori... I've fought for every inch just to be here... I've watched as countless civilizations burned to the ground...."
Kamae would sit up straight then, taking a long drink of his glass while he rolled around the thoughts of the billions he had watched die. The realization of why he had done what he did was so he COULD escape the tormenting cycle of the shinjin... why had he returned?
"An old demon like me... maybe coming here was a bad idea."
Kamae could only stare himself in the eye as he considered it a long hard moment. The fighting, the struggling, the scheming, and the killing... Could he do it again. Why would he... with a sigh, the demon took another drink from his wine while he looked back to the girl. Alcohol was having an effect on the ancient demon who was in a fresh body. His face was warm, he felt a little unbalanced but was not completely intoxicated. Not yet at least.

After Loki had accepted her drink and, eyeing the grimace of a bit of amusement, Zerori actually laughed at his teasing comment about her ‘loosening’ up his tongue. He wasn’t wrong but to have it said out loud had almost worried he was offended. Still, she played along with a wink, “Me being cheeky has never steered me wrong yet,” A lie and a blatant one but nothing Loki would ever find out about and she planned to keep it that way. Whether it was because she’d simply asked or because he was itching to tell, Zerori observed Loki with a curious eye as he confirmed that he did have stories to tell - she just didn’t know it because he had lived so long. Her eyebrows furrowed, doubtful but didn’t say anything against him as he didn’t need much encouragement to seemingly fall back into his own mind.
For a moment, Zerori was worried that she’d come across someone that wasn’t entirely all there; maybe he was some old man that had gotten loose from their monitor and she’d just made him relapse. Just as she was about to call it and leave him to his memories (or the recollection of such) he leaned forward and took another long drink of his wine. Something was happening here, Zerori realized, as she glanced between the man and his drink. The mention of him being an old Demon was the final straw to understanding just what that was.
He was like her but much much older. Perhaps older than anyone on this planet, even. Her grin had fallen by this point, scrutinizing him before she shook her head of the stupor and the filter to her mouth was completely gone, “Doesn’t like you’re in the wrong place to me,” She blurted out, turning to the bartender and tossing him a smile as if to show everything was fine. That she wasn’t in a bar with a self-proclaimed Demon of hundreds of years. She spoke again, not looking at Loki as she did so, “When you mean ‘here’, I’m going to assume you mean to this… uh realm? Couldn’t tell ya if it was a mistake but as someone who only recently learned how to use her powers-?” She looked down at her drink, pensive for a moment as she chewed on her thoughts before taking another sip of her drink and finishing her thought, “-I think it’s not a bad place to be. It might be an existence I’ve always known, but when I was in Hell, let me tell you. It was insane. Like nothing I’d ever seen,” Now look who sounded like she belonged in a crazy house with a caretaker.
She finally looked back at him with a smirk, “-but it was a lot of fun. Something new, y’know? You sound like you’ve seen it all but maybe this is that new thing for you. You should try to enjoy it.” Hardly the words of wisdom but all Zerori knew was the moment. Plans didn’t always work. Thinking ahead didn’t always give the best results.

Kamae would simply chuckle at the girls words, her encouragement indeed stirring him from his depressive mood. Instead the demon couldn't help but let a grin spread, eyes looking into his own through the mirror, while also glancing at Zerori. She was a young warrior by the looks of it, was probably incredibly powerful. Or maybe not... he didn't really know to be fair. He didn't examine her long, only for a brief moment before removing his eyes in a gentlemanly manner.
"Yes, indeed something new. You see Zerori, I have spent the least few eons without a sense of touch, smell or taste. I could hear, and see just fine... But the taste of wine..."
He would say as he took the final drink and set it down on the counter. A long drawn out sigh of him savoring the taste before he returned to speaking.
"The feel of this counter..."
Kamae would say as he ran a hand over the smooth bar, saving the texture he once could not feel.
"and the smells... Everything is new to me... While I did have my eye sight and hearing being trapped in endless black for so long..."
Kamae groaned as he remembered the dullness of having nothing but his own thoughts for company every day... How could anyone possible suffer through that everyday for eons? Because kamae was willpower incarnate, and what he wanted... he got. Nothing would stop him and yet... he didn't know what he wanted anymore. After all, why destroy creation? He could just... leave. Nothing would happen and he could just walk away...
Looking to his companion at the bar, he thought back onto her words... to try something new... He had always tried to free mortal kind but he found his own freedom... they could too. So then... what should the long living Kamae Ghoun, Primordial Demon of the abyss to do...
"Yes... Perhaps it is time for something new, a change of scene and method... Perhaps my old ways must die... and make way for the new..."
Kamae would turn about, looking over the room with legs crossed and an elbow on the counter. He looked over the mortals in the room, a smile on his face as his yellow serpent eyes went to each one. He could kill them all, but what was the point of that? He grows stronger? Why so he could repeat the cycle of defeat by stronger foes again and again? No... He was done with that game of mouse... Let the muscles kill each other, Kamae would find other ways to entertain himself.
"It is difficult to start a new journey with no destination set though... I suppose thinking on it would be wise... while not slightly intoxicated after eons."
THe demon then looked over his shoulder at the Bar tender only to order something stronger for himself and her if she wished it. The demon ordered something fruity and to surprise him. While the bar tender was working, Kamae returned his gaze to the girl again. Spinning around once more so he was leaning on the bar forwards again.
"What of you miss Zerori. What do you do for a living? You have a saiyan tail, so I guess you are a saiyan. Out for a jog today?"
Kamae asked seeing her outfit, but tactfully turned his gaze away quickly to avoid being impolite. He did not look at Zerori directly often unless it was in her face, and was simply attempting to be respectful. He simply went quiet after asking and looking away, content to let the young lady speak. He felt like an old grand pa standing next to some young lady and he felt gross. His eyes half lidding as he thought of what he must seem like. An eons old demon in a bar chatting to some young miss. placing a hand to his forehead, he embarrassed himself without even meaning too.

Zerori blinked at Loki, uncertain exactly what to say to the mention of him having existed without most of his senses - still, sight and sound aside, if there wasn’t anything to see or hear were you truly able to sense anything? The line of thinking wasn’t off from what Loki was feeling, either, as he nearly said the same thing she was thinking but in a much more… animated way. She could tell he was a fan of the theatrical and if she had to be honest - she respected that. Most, if not all, who knew her were aware of her tendency to the over dramatic and preference to the extra. Still, the groan was a bit much and Zerori had to stifle a snort as she took in just how much he was enjoying the ability to feel.
When he looked back at her, quiet for the moment as if lost in thought, Zerori would cock an eyebrow upward in question before Loki decided that she might be right. She grinned, “That’s what I’m talkin’ about!” She said in a celebratory fashion as he turned to look back at the rest of the bar. She wasn’t sure what he was thinking about but his next words had her give a noncommittal shrug, “It is difficult but once you’ve figured that part out, the rest of the journey is half the fun,” She turned to the bartender and waited for Loki to order his drink before she ordered a soda. Anything that was similar to Sierra Dew was fine for her.
At his question she looked at him and gave a soft hum of thought before answering, “I am a Saiyan, but only half. I spent most of my life here, after all, but I’m not at ALL a human,” She chuckled, amused by how much of a Human’s life she lived more than a Saiyan. “Ironically enough, however, I am out for a bit of a jog. A jog home after an intense day of training on this island.” Once the bartender returned with her pop, she took a sip and gave a sigh of enjoyment, “Love this shit.” Before returning her attention back to Loki, more on her mind to say before she noticed the universal sign that Loki was actually embarrassed.
She paused, taken aback before she noticed him bring a hand to his forehead and that was when she laughed softly, trying not to make it worse but unable to help herself, “Don’t worry. I get that all the time,” She took another sip, looking at him pointedly before she placed her glass down. “It’s a normal reaction,” She ended with a saucy wink.
However, speaking of trying to get home, Zerori looked at the clock and gave a contemplative hum. Should she stay for a little longer? Maybe he had more he’d like to talk about? It wasn’t often you met a thousand eon old Demon, after all. “And what about you? I know you’re still enjoying the sights and sounds, but… maybe I can help with some ideas for what you can do? Hell, if you wanted an idea of what I do - I’m a mercenary.” She took another sip, finishing it and placing it closer on the counter for the bartender to fill. “-and a baker.”

Kamae would simply look about the place as he listened to Zerori, her talk of the journey making even the eons old demon feel a little vibrant. As the bartender took his order and then hers. He simply ordered water, the finest ingredient for life. That and carbon but he couldn't drink that... he could try but he doubted it would go over well. As the drink arrived, the girl then went on to explain her heritage, to which Kamae simply nodded along to.
She hadn't been oblivious to his unfortunate attention, but he would ignore her form from now on.
"Aye, I am sure. But I am an eons old man, and while I am a monster, I am by no means a creep. I will correct myself."
Kamae stated matter of factly, and promptly did not wish to make anyone uncomfortable would simply smile before answering her final question, happy to move on if she wished.
"Aye... I think I'll get into politics... And we both know how cut throat politics in space are... Damn arcosians."
Kamae spat on the ground, they were difficult to deal with because of arrogance. He would wipe them out first. He hated them. But quickly returned to shrugging about the future.
"If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, I might have a job lined up in a day or two. How about it?"
Kamae smiled at Zerori from the corner of his eye before returning his gaze to the bar guests. He wasn't staring at them, but simply looking about the room in search of something to look at while he chatted.

Well, consider her impressed by his chivalry! While she would have rather he just played along a little bit, Zerori had a feeling there was a reason he’d decided to ‘stay in his lane’. It wasn’t an issue for her, but for his sake, she’d try and keep the teasing to a minimum so as to not make it so difficult for him. Taking a bit more of a sip from her drink, Zerori cocked an eyebrow at his chosen path and the comparison to the Arcosians. She hadn’t heard that name for them in a while, likely due to his knowledge as a Greater Demon, but Zerori would give a dry laugh at it anyway, “That, we do. Zero Ika and his brother - not that you’d know too much about them after they were killed - were what I’d ‘politely’ call entrepreneurs. Even I saw an opportunity with them for a time.”
Thank the Gods she got wise quickly.
As she made to finish her drink, a plan of departure boiling in her mind, a rather interesting proposal came from Loki. “Oh?” She wasn’t exactly on the level of trust to be taking missions from strangers, but what the hell, right? Had to pay the bills somehow and all relationships had to start somewhere. “Whatchu got for me?” She goaded, curious to see what he could come with.
Meanwhile, within the bar, the later evening and steady stream of guests coming in would have the atmosphere of the business start to become more lively. While not the focus of anyone’s attention, the chairs that had gradually become empty during their conversation started to become filled with more enthusiastic patrons.
